Selin Uzal

Selin Uzal was born in Istanbul. Both her mother and father are oncologist.
She completed her primary education in Ankara. She attended Bilkent University High School studying English, and then attended Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, California. She graduated with a degree in Political Science. She then attended summer school at The London School of Economics studying International Relations. She speaks French and is fluent in English.
She took acting classes while attending middle school at the Hacettepe University Conservatory. Then in 2007 while in Los Angeles she attended summer school at the New York Film Academy. While continuing her higher education in 2011 she attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, studying both theater and Musical Theater. In 2012 she attended New York University for the Performing Arts. Before graduating in 2013 from Pepperdine University she won a fellowship in Screenwriting.
While in high school she performed in many school plays. She also performed in musicals for the AmericanTurkish Society. In 2009 she performed as a amateur in a London Musical. Both in Los Angeles and New York she has roles in five different short films.
After completing her education she returned to Istanbul working behind the camera as a assistant director. She worked Freelance in the advertising sector including PTT and Filmpark as an assistant director.
This past year she shot a short film in which she starred and was also the screenplay writer, director and producer. Since June 2015 she has been appearing the StarTV series "Kiralik Ask", where she portrays the character of Derya. In October is also appeared in the commercial for Tozlu.com.
Other than acting, she is working on a wartime screenplay which also takes note of violence against women, which will be her second short film.
