Lamont Brown is an African American Producer/Writer/Manager in the entertainment business. He was born in Inglewood, California and grew up in San Fernando Valley (the Valley), were he was a stand out athlete as a youth. He came of age in P-Town (Pomona, California)
Brown attended Pomona High School where he was a three year letterman and starter for the Pomona High Red Devils. Receiving numerous accolades and honors for excellence in football including MVP in his senior season. He began his entertainment career in high school, booking high school friends at local talent shows.
Lamont started his professional career in 1992 when a neck injury ended his aspirations for a football career. He went on to manage acts such as The Art of Sax, Mark Pollard aka Marko Polo, Tanqueray, and UBU.
Brown achieved his first taste of real success managing Duane "DaRock" Ramos. At that time he negotiated and closed a deal with future NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal. Brown credits Mr. O'Neal who broke him professionally.
After managing DaRock, Brown went on to represent Floyd "Flip Matrix" Wilcox, Landing two songs on the break out album by Peter Guns and Lord Tariq. Those songs were "Who am I" and "Fiesta".
Brown also secured Flip Matrix a publishing deal with MCA/Universal, where he maintains an extensive relationship.
Brown went on to work with several Grammy Award winners, including Paula Abdul, Gladys Knight, and Howard Hewett.
Currently he is working directly with Howard Hewett on his current album "You Still Live Inside of Me", Serving as co-producer of the title track. He is also Chief Executive Producer for the album. Brown also co-produced both of Howards recent videos "You Still Live Inside of Me"" and "Better Guy" (starring Michael Jai White, Gillian Liana Waters, and Troop front man Steven Russell Harts). These videos can be seen on You Tube.
Brown's first stab at wearing multiple hats for a given project was his work on cult underground tune "America's Song 911" that he co-wrote with Norman Dozier of Rockwell fame. In addition to co-writing, he also co-produced and was an executive producer on that project. The video for this song can also be seen on You Tube.
Brown's greatest accomplishment to date was his work as an executive producer on Gladys Knight's 2002 Grammy award winning album "At Last". Where he executive produced Gladys' hit single "If I Were Your Woman II" and also "Something Blue" and "A Rose Bouquet".
Additionally, Brown has placed songs in films such as " Trippin' ", "Queens of Comedy", and "On the Line". This includes the song "Fallin' " in the movie "On the Line" for Diamond Recording Artists N'Sync.
Lamont has shifted his focus to include film work. He was asked to serve as executive producer and music supervisor by long term friend Mr. Stephen "Stix" Josey, director/writer/producer on his latest film entitled "The Hills". This film, currently in production, is due to be released later this year.
In addition, Brown is working in the studio with good friend Steve Russell Harts on the new Keith Washington album.
He currently owns and runs, with his good friend Jerry Lingle, LingleBrown, LLC, an entertainment group enterprise.
He is also a partner in Incendiary Entertainment Group, a one stop shop, from a to z, in recording, mixing, mastering, producing, and management of entertainment goods and services.
