- Jemmy Chen began her journey in the performing arts at the age of 3. Since then she has become an accomplished pianist, conductor, music director, singer, dancer, and actor. Jemmy began performing as a concert pianist at the age of 6 and won numerous competitions growing up. Her love for music led to a singing career with Vancouver Chamber Choir and eventually brought her to pursue professional musical theatre training at the America Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC, where she found her true love - Acting.
During her seven years on the east coast, Jemmy finished her Masters in Fine Arts in Acting at the University of Virginia. Jemmy also performed and music directed shows in regional theatres, including A Midsummer Night's Dream, Sound of Music, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Pippin, to name a few. Her last appearance in New York City was as the Music Director for an Off-Broadway show titled "Butterfly's Trouble" - a musical theatre adaptation of Madam Butterfly for which she received this review, "The chamber group, led by Jemmy Chen on keyboard, provided a nearly flawless musical grounding for the work, and also stepped in for several characters and as a sort of chorus from time to time." Within the short period of time since Jemmy has been back in Vancouver, she has booked a regional commercial for VanCity, landed a large role in a USA Network series "Rush," and is currently in the works for a few projects. Additionally, she is fluent in Mandarin and English, and trained in stage combat and physical acting.
