He wrote his first song (music and lyrics) "Because I Met You" when he was 14, the song was first showcased live during his 15th birthday concert.

He had a pet Poodle, called Du Du, which he took to work-related functions often and shared many stories with on his Weibo account. But due to Roy's busy work schedule, Du Du was given away.

Roy represented China at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum 2017 in UN New York headquarters, in which he has given a short speech about equal access to quality education.
