- Additional Crew
Andrew Saito is a globe-trotting writer whose many experiences living and traveling far off the beaten path shape his writing for TV, theater, and film. Coming from a family that is Japanese, White, Black, and Latinx, cultural collision and hybridity are at the core of his brand. A Fulbright scholar in Papua New Guinea, he was selected from a pool of over 1,600 applicants for the Paramount Writers Mentoring Program. He has had numerous plays produced, including at the Cutting Ball Theater, where he was full-time resident playwright for three years. His writing has been supported by the Mellon Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and many other funders. Speaking four languages, Andrew excels at immersive research and cross-cultural communication and collaboration, and has been awarded grants to travel to all six inhabited continents. A fourth-degree black belt in Kung Fu San Soo, Andrew is passionate about scuba diving, climate activism, and volunteering for political campaigns. He also loves to cook; recipes up his sleeve include chile rellenos, jambalaya, ropa vieja, key lime pie, and the meanest French toast this side of Paris (Texas, that is).
