Ideally timed to Disney’s centennial, a short film entitled “Once Upon a Studio” assembles 100 years’ worth of animated characters from the company’s vaults for a group photo outside Walt Disney Animation Studios headquarters in Burbank, Calif. That’s the building, shaped like Mickey Mouse’s conical blue hat from “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” where the walls are lined with images from a century’s worth of iconic toons.
Conceived and directed by Trent Correy and Dan Abraham, the project involves a live-action walkthrough of the place where the magic happens — that is, where much of the work on Disney’s animated features is done. But there’s an extra sprinkling of magic here, as cartoon characters leap out of their frames and wander the halls where they were originally drawn or rendered.
That hybrid style, where animation embellishes live-action footage, was first implemented by Disney on 1946’s “Song of the South,...

“Stealing Raden Saleh” is a refreshing twist on the typical heist genre. Directed by Angga Dwimas Sasongko, who has a successful track record with his previous film “Ben and Jody” (2021), the movie offers a new perspective on the category by placing greater emphasis on drama and character development.
“Stealing Raden Saleh” follows the story of Piko, a college student and skilled forger, who must steal a valuable painting to secure the release of his imprisoned father. Piko joins forces with a team of thieves, including a hacker, a brute, a driver, a handyman, and a negotiator, to carry out the heist at the President’s Palace. The objective is to replace the original “Arrest of Prince Diponegoro” painting by Raden Saleh with a fake one. This heist movie is full of plot twists, a staple of the genre, and keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.

Disney's D23 Expo is currently underway in Anaheim, California, and /Film's very own Ethan Anderton is on the ground, collecting all the breaking news and exclusive clips and trailers. The latest offering from Walt Disney Animation Studios, "Strange World," had a special trailer and clip to share with audiences attending the expo.
This animated film is inspired by pulp sci-fi epics of old and has a group of explorers searching for new lands and creatures. The earlier teaser gave us a glimpse of just how strange this world actually is. There are seemingly inanimate objects that can get up and walk around. There is some kind of goo that appears to be sentient. There are fish-looking creatures that fly through the air in schools. Is anyone up for a field trip to wherever this is?
