From Alexandria, Egypt, Yassin Koptan graduated with a Bachelors in Filmmaking. Actively pursuing his career, Yassin's professional work has lead stories into acclaimed festivals such as Austin Film Festival & SF Indie Fest.
Yassin is also one of the first skateboarders in Egypt. He started at the age of 11 and began video-graphing skateboarding tricks with his handy-cam and using basic editing software to compile montages of his skateboarding sessions. By time, he got sponsored by Skateimpact.com representing Dwindle Distribution brands such as Enjoi Skateboards & Etnies Shoes and was more enabled when he was cast in the feature film Microphone (2011) at the age of 16.
His acting experience led him to pursue filmmaking in Los Angeles where he attended the New York Film Academy for his BFA. Now, he works as a director, editor and writer in LA & Egypt where he recently got nominated for an Audience Award for Best Student Narrative at the prestigious Austin Film Festival 2016 and won Best Student Film at Short to the Point Film Festival 2016.
