After working together on the surprisingly good old school action movie The Beekeeper, director David Ayer and actor Jason Statham are set to reteam on another action project, Levon’s Trade. And this time they’ll be working from a screenplay that was written by Sylvester Stallone! (With some revisions by Ayer.) Levon’s Trade was announced a few months ago, and Deadline reports that it has just secured distribution through Amazon MGM. Amazon MGM will be giving the film a wide theatrical release in the U.S., while Prime Video takes streaming rights in a slew of major international territories. “Outside of the Prime Video international territories (where the film may go online only), producers Black Bear have sold the film independently to theatrical distributors in multiple overseas markets.”

Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Logan's FX produced horror The Strain has many good things going for it; however, Ben Hyland's (Zack Goodweather) acting is not one of them. Generally, the directing, the acting, the score, the high production values and the beautiful looking cinematography have been more than enough to keep people tuned in and they far outweigh the bad points that plagued season one. Thusly, it's refreshing to hear that executive producer/showrunner Carlton Cuse has taken affirmative action to up the ante for the hotly anticipated season two, by getting rid of the deadwood. It's harsh, but there really isn't any other way to put it, when the push comes to shove, Goodweather couldn.t act his way out of a paper bag....

Chicago – Jason Statham has become an amorphous blob in the action genre, but an amorphous blob who is his own archetype, nonetheless. With the “Expendables” movies he began to take the genre torch from Sylvester Stallone, and now working from a script by Stallone in “Homefront”, his Americanization is nearly certified. That being said, watching Jason Statham tattoo a bald eagle on himself might be more enjoyable than his latest addition to a bloated filmography, “Homefront”. That, or staging a debate with Stallone and Statham about gun control.
Rating: 2.0/5.0
Screenwriter Stallone adapted a novel by Chuck Logan with intent on assembling an old fashioned tale of home security, with any and all genre connections welcome. In its final form, a film that could’ve had some grip as a small town thriller loses its tension before such seems like a possibility. On a more basic level, “Homefront” doesn’t have...

With Homefront, the ever prolific Jason Statham was back for his third film of 2013! First it was Parker, then Redemption (which went straight to Redbox) and finally this Sylvester Stallone-penned film based on the book by Chuck Logan. Much has been made of the script being written by Sly mostly because short-term memory critics forget the man has written a ton of screenplays, was Oscar-nominated for one, and developed three of the most successful movie franchises of all time. Here again he shows that he hasn’t lost his touch. It’s a simple-minded and predictable Bronsonesque revenge tale but it mostly works. As for the action, we get a couple of car chases and lots of the old fashioned brawling Statham fans expect.

For over 12 years, Jason Statham has been making his bread and butter from the action genre, and it seems he has reached a point where he can make a departure from the usual dumb action fare, and try his hand at something a bit more serious. He has shown it already with Hummingbird, and now he's at it again with Homefront, which lets him have the best of both worlds, mixing in some heavy drama with the hand to hand combat and shoot outs he seems most at home in. Written by Sylvester Stallone (based on Chuck Logan's novel of the same name), the film sees Statham play retired DEA agent Phil Broker, who has moved, with his daughter Maddy (Izabela Vidovic), to a quiet town in Louisiana to get away from it all. When Maddy confronts a local bully in the school playground, events escalate until Broker finds...

Phil Broker (Statham) is a retired Interpol agent, living with his daughter in a backwater town where he's desperately trying to rebuild his life after the tragic death of his wife. But when a playground feud escalates, Gator (Franco), the local meth producer, discovers Phil's past life, and despite Phil's efforts, he finds himself dragged back into the murky underworld of drugs an guns. Sylvester Stallone scripts and produces this adaptation of Chuck Logan's novel, originally intending to star in it himself (it was touted as a Rambo 5 script initially) before asking his Expendables buddy Statham to take on the lead.

Jason Statham teams up with another badass little girl… which makes him almost warm and charming as he kicks the crap out of villains. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): have not been the biggest Jason Statham fan
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
Hey! Jason Statham finally found a thing that works! Well, okay, a thing that finally works for me. Lots of folks seem just fine with the badass martial-arts machine he typically portrays… if that’s even the word for simply transferring his stuntman workouts to the big screen. For me, that’s so completely uninteresting, and so very cold, and I was starting to wonder if he had anything else to offer.
But he’s trying. With a decent script — not that this wholly qualifies, but more on that in a moment — he’s got something. With the right costar,...

This weekend at the movies, you'll have no shortage of choices including award season contenders, shiny blockbusters and fare for the whole family. But sometimes, during the holidays, you need a break from the grind and some escapist entertainment in the shape of "Homefront" could bit the bill. Opening today, our review notes that the movie "is [Jason] Statham’s show, and as always he doesn’t disappoint." With the holidays now upon us, we've some treats for fans of the action star. But first, in case you're still catching up, the movie, co-starring James Franco, Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth, and Frank Grillo, was written by Sylvester Stallone, and follows a widowed ex-dea agent who retires to a small town with his 10-year-old daughter only to run afoul of some potent baddies. If this were 1987, “Homefront” would be the baddest feature film to hit your local Cineplex this holiday season. Written by Sylvester Stallone, from a novel by Chuck Logan, this is a movie that Sly, Schwarzenegger, or one of their ilk, could easily have headlined in their 80s action prime, and I mean that in every conceivable way. There are cell phones and modern automobiles—a few late model pick up trucks at least—but this could be almost any time in the last 30 years. There’s a timeless, anachronistic quality, and that is how “Homefront” is best enjoyed, as a fun trip into nostalgia. Jason Statham proves yet again that he’s the only action star working in the current genre landscape that not only consistently makes these types of movies, he also gets them a wide theatrical release. “Homefront” simply isn’t the kind of film general audiences want anymore,...

I wasn't expecting much from Homefront, which may be due to the tired, half-assed way these churn-and-burn actioners are made today, or because the plot seemed to be yet another Straw Dogs-esque rip-off. However, it actually works as a gnarly little red-neck thriller with your standard level of Jason Statham bad-assery as he faces off against James Franco as a low level meth dealer who announces himself saying, "My name is Gator Bodine!" It's an introduction nearly worth the price of admission alone. Written by Sylvester Stallone, based on the novel by Chuck Logan, Statham plays ex-dea agent Phil Broker who's moved to a small, unnamed Louisiana town with his ten-year-old daughter (Izabela Vidovic) in hopes of settling down peacefully. As the movie gods would have it, there's some shady business going on in town, all of which goes against Broker's ethical code not to mention the town seems...

There’s something tantalizingly gratifying about watching Jason Statham beat thugs senseless. I can’t put my finger on it, but he brings a certain level of badassery that other genre actors can’t reach – a certain violent spark if you will. Sure, we’ve seen Jason time and time again in films like The Transporter, Crank, The Expendables, and Death Race, sporting one of the most robust henchman bodycounts in Hollywood – but I just can’t get enough of it.
Homefront is the latest movie to launch Statham into action, and while this bayou brawler doesn’t do anything astonishingly new, the simple pleasures of explosions, fist-fights, and bad accents make the watch an endurable one. I mean, how many times are you going to see Jason Statham fight James Franco?

Click, click, bang! I wish I could say this new red band trailer for Homefront looked a little more unique than it does, but like this weekend's new offering Escape Plan, it looks like another movie that's just that one notch above "direct to video", which means it could be a fun time at the theater, but largely forgettable. Based on the book by Chuck Logan, Homefront focuses on a widowed ex-dea agent (Jason Statham) who retires to a small town for the sake of his 10-year-old daughter. He didn't choose the town well as a druglord named Gator (James Fronco) threatens the peaceful community. The action film follows a former DEA agent (Statham) who heads to a small town with his family to get away from the dangers of his former job. There he finds a small town terrorized by a meth head gang leader (Franco), and Statham is put into a situation where he has to protect his family.

Millenium films has released the first trailer for the Sylvester Stallone-scripted Homefront, which will feature Jason Statham and James Franco trying to take each other down. I personally think Statham has the upper hand, but it looks like Franco will give him a run for his money.
The movie was directed by Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury, Don't Say A Word), and it looks really good. It is based on the book by Chuck Logan, and it also stars Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth, and Frank Grillo.

The first trailer for director Gary Fleder‘s new crime thriller Homefront has arrived, pitting Jason Statham against James Franco. Vet action star, director and producer Sylvester Stallone is only the screenwriter on the upcoming project. Based on Chuck Logan’s book, Homefront focuses on a former Drug Enforcement Administration agent (Statham) who retires to a small town for the sake of his 10-year-old daughter, and soon butts heads with the local crime leader(Franco). The flick, which looks like a fairly typical actioner, co-stars Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth, and Frank Grillo. ‘Homefront’ will arrive in movie theaters on November 27th, 2013. Looks a bit generic in my...

Homefront was adapted for the screen by Sylvester Stallone from Chuck Logan's book and focuses on a widowed ex-dea agent (Jason Statham) who retires to a small town for the sake of his 10-year-old daughter. He didn't choose the town well as a druglord (James Franco) threatens the peaceful community. Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth and Frank Grillo co-star. Today the first trailer, poster and a handful of pictures from the movie directed by Gary Fleder (The Express) have arrived ahead of the film's upcoming November 27 release. Yes, it's another R-rated Statham actioner and after watching about 60 seconds of the trailer it looks like some sort of Straw Dogs style approach to a common "undercover cop in a small town" kind of film. Could be good, I have my doubts, but we'll see. Check out the trailer and poster below and I've included the pictures on Page Two.

Jason Statham and James Franco have teamed up for a new thriller called Homefront, which is based on the best-selling novel by Chuck Logan. Sylvester Stallone wrote the script. We have our first look at the two actors today in a few photos that were released on USA Today. The story follows a DEA agent who moves to a small town after he's finished with his life fighting crime. As you might expect, once he moves to the small town he ends up fighting crime again. Director Gary Fleder talked about the film a little, explaining,
"Broker (Statham) is trying to live off the grid with his daughter, live the idyllic life. But then he runs into Gator (Franco), who has a lot of people in town afraid. Looking at it within the paradigm of the classic Western, Gator is the guy with the black hat on. Even the sheriff...

The upcoming action/thriller Homefront is an intriguing prospect when you factor in all involved. For one, the film's cast is a mixed bag of interesting choices: Jason Statham, James Franco (as a meth-slinging villain!), Frank Grillo, Winona Ryder, Clancy Brown, Kate Bosworth, and Rachelle LeFevre. Second, the pic is written by none other than Sylvester Stallone, based on the novel by Chuck Logan, which is about "a former DEA agent [who] moves his family to a quiet town,...

Jason Statham knows he’s taking a bit of a risk with Redemption, the directorial debut of Eastern Promises and Dirty Pretty Things screenwriter Steven Knight in theaters and available On Demand June 28.

When the young woman he shares a box with goes missing, Joey finds a reason to rehabilitate himself — to find her killer and avenge her death. There is some ass-kicking along the way as Joey’s skills are exploited by his new employer,...

Open Road has shifted two of its upcoming releases: the Robert Rodriguez-directed Danny Trejo-starrer Machete Kills is moving to October 4 from its earlier September 13 perch, and the Jason Statham and James Franco-starrer Homefront moves to November 27 from its previously announced October 4 date. Machete Kills stars Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demián Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror and Mel Gibson. Trejo returns as the blade-happy ex-Federale agent, who this time is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet. I believe Gibson plays the anarchist. Script is by Kyle Ward based on a...
