Mintaka studied film-making in the U.K. and directed his first music video "Time Will Tell" featuring Zimbabwean Singer Kudzai Max.

Mintaka always wanted to pursue his flying dream of being an airline pilot. But after graduating in 1997, chose to become an actor instead. However, the pandemic of 2019 brought his acting career to a standstill. During that time an opportunity arose for him to pursue his flying passion and in 2023 qualified as pilot.

Met his wife Melanie at her local church where she sang in the choir.
