Molly's first acting opportunity was in a year two production of The Damper Bread Man. She played the crow and forgot to flap her wings as she chased the title character. This made her cry.

Her peers at Hampton Senior High School included pop star Samantha Jade, So You Think You Can Dance contestant Doug de Voogt and Miss Universe contestant Ashleigh Jade.

Molly speaks Italian fluently because she spent two months in Matera, Italy when she was seventeen and completed a Bachelor of Arts major in Italian.

Molly auditioned for the high school musical in grade 12 but protested that it was unfair against non-singing actors so the director made the originally male and only non-singing role into a female role and cast Molly. She later won the informal drama class award of "Songbird" for her habit of casually singing all the time.

Molly is also a singer-songwriter in the office band Lonely Soup Day. An early version of the tracks Line of Sight and Chocolate Bar feature in the short film Aftermath and Melody.
