John O'Toole(IX)
- Writer
- Producer
John O'Toole was an Emmy-nominated writer, producer, and commentator on television, film, and radio. He was the executive producer of the 1980s PBS series "Modern Maturity", which was about aging. He also wrote a mini-series adaptation for PBS of James Fennimore Cooper's "Leatherstocking Tales" in 1979, as well as the 1971 cult classic "Who Killed Mary Whats'ername", starring Sylvia Miles.
O'Toole was born in Brooklyn, New York, and lived in Washington, D.C. with his wife and two daughters. He was never at a loss for words, and if he wasn't busy giving you your opinion, he could be found in a corner somewhere, writing on a legal-sized yellow lined pad. He was an avid blogger at 80 years old as well as a painter. He also wrote crime novels which featured a detective named O'Bannion.
He wrote for the Huffington Post as well as his own blog, "Eli's Observations", up until his death in March 2013, and would certainly have a thing or two to say about today's political state of affairs.
