Rachael S. Morgan is an award-winning fiction writer/novelist and screenwriter. She's committed to writing powerful yet hilarious female-led stories and is allergic to the phrase 'strong female lead'-give her complex, flawed, and messy any day of the week.
A former touring musician and entertainment writer for a national women's magazine, Rachael is a recipient of both the Josephine Ulrick Literature Prize and the GREW Prize for Fiction. Her work been published in magazines and journals in Australia and internationally, and she also taught screenwriting for a major international film school. She's also the author of Dead Famous - A Kat Alley Mystery, published by Daring Press in 2023 (writing as 'Ruby Fox').
Rachael grew up on film and television sets, with her family working on such 1980s productions as Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Superman, and Labyrinth. She's been fascinated by screen stories and the industry culture around them ever since.
Her film & television credits include 'Wanted' (Matchbox Pictures) and 'Mako Mermaids' (JMSP/Netflix), early development of children's television series, 'The Timeshifters' (Essential Media) and 'The Bachelor' (Associate Producer - Casting).
Rachael's dramedy series, The Scoop, is currently in development with a BAFTA and EMMY-award-winning Australian production house. The pilot script for The Scoop was Top 10 Finalist (TV Comedy) in the 2023 Page International Screenwriting Awards (US), out of 10,000 scripts entered worldwide.
Other projects in development include dark comedy TV series, 'Disgraceful'; limited drama series 'Little Stranger'; music documentary series, 'Pop Will Eat Itself'; feature films 'The Real Thing' and 'You, Me and the Dog' (Director, Mairi Cameron); and, dramedy series, 'MONSTER NATURE', with The Good Room's Amy Ingram.
Her novel, 'Disgraceful' was awarded a prestigious 2023 Fellowship at Varuna-The National Writers House and will be published in Australia and internationally in early 2026.
