Sunny Deol is aiming August 2025 for the release of his next film Lahore 1947 based on Asghar Wajahat’s play Jis Lahore Ni Vekhya O Jamyai Nai, produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. However the release date of the film is yet not decided, but in all probability it might clash with Hrithik Roshan & Jr Ntr’s War 2.

Sunny Deol’s Clash History Repeated?

Interestingly, it was in 2023 that Sunny arrived on 15 August, with Gadar 2 clashing with Akshay Kumar’s Omg 2, and both films were successful. However, Anil Sharma’s Gadar sequel witnessed an unbelievable box office collection of a massive 525.20 crore.

Bollywood fans are in for a treat as three of the most celebrated names in the industry are joining hands for an epic partition drama titled Lahore: 1947. Aamir Khan, who is known for his perfectionism and versatility, will produce the film under his banner Aamir Khan Productions. Sunny Deol, who has delivered some of the most iconic performances in films like Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak, will play the lead role in the film. Rajkumar Santoshi, who has directed classics like Andaz Apna Apna, Lajja and The Legend of Bhagat Singh, will helm the project as the director.

Uprooted during partition thousands of Hindus & Sikhs, from Pakistan are refugees in Delhi. The Indian Government struggles to provide for them. Godse holds Gandhi responsible for the partition and misery of Hindus. He shoots Gandhi on 30th January 1948. But Gandhi is miraculously saved. He pardons Godse.

Tanisha Santoshi, daughter of director Rajkumar Santoshi, is set to make her foray in the world of Hindi films with her father’s upcoming directorial ‘Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh’. Her first look from the film was unveiled on Wednesday. She took to her Instagram to share a still of herself from the film which shows her dressed up in an Indian attire in the shades of burnt orange and yellow.

She writes in the caption: “I’ve been waiting for this moment for a really long time. And it’s finally here!! I’m extremely grateful to be a small part of a one of a kind film made by visionary filmmaker. Feeling extremely emotional to be sharing the first look of my character. The motion poster of director Rajkumar Santoshi’s upcoming film ‘Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh’ was unveiled on Tuesday. The video depicts the war of ideologies between Mahatma Gandhi and Nathuram Godse. Nathuram Godse is the one who shot Mahatma Gandhi in broad daylight on January 30, 1948.

It starts off with Nathuram Godse saying that he always wanted to kill Gandhi and would still kill him if he got the chance. To which Gandhi says that a bullet can only kill a person and not the ideas propagated by them as they continue to inspire generations long after they’re gone.

Gandhi then asks what kind of war Godse thinks he is fighting against him, to which Godse says it’s the war of ideologies. Gandhi then goes on to say in the video that to fight an ideological war one doesn’t need weapons but the ideas as the ideological warfare tests the strength of ideologies.

Rajkumar Santoshi is known for his contribution of path-breaking films to Indian cinema. Now, with Gandhi-Godse Ek Yudh, the ace director is returning to the silver screen after 9 years, the film is all set to hit theatres on 26th January 2023.
