Kalpana Ariyawansa is a Sri Lankan born American Sri Lankan filmmaker who's interest and passion for cinema began as a child living in Colombo. Residing in both Los Angeles, USA and Colombo, Sri Lanka as a writer, director, producer, production designer, and film editor, collaborating with his writer, director brother Vindana Ariyawansa.
After graduating with a BFA in visual communication from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio, he has worked as a concept and storyboard artist in the animation and advertising industries in Columbus and Los Angeles before becoming a filmmaker. His directorial debut, "Dirty, Yellow, Darkness (aka Premaya Nam), written and directed with his brother Vindana, has screened over fifteen international film festivals and won numerous awards.
He has also worked as a creative director, line producer and script writer for internationally acclaimed Sri Lankan feature films, TV reality shows and educational programs.
