With a distinctive blend of creativity, passion for localisation, and a keen storytelling acumen, Paula McGlynn has established herself as a multifaceted force in the Marathi entertainment industry. As a producer, director, and writer, her work reflects a commitment to diverse and impactful storytelling that resonates with audiences across various genres.
Early Career/Education: She received her BFA with a major in Filmmaking from Simon Fraser University, (Vancouver, Canada). Her thesis film, My Uncle Terry was shown at the Montreal World Film Festival and Moonrise Film Festival and utilized her passion for music and sound as Sound Designer on several award-winning short films. She has won awards such as the Praxis Screenplay Award in 2011, and was selected for the DOXA Connexions program. Twice the recipient of the SFU Mobility fund for her research on the Indian film industry, Paula McGlynn has a strong network within the Indo-Canadian film industry and has started the BC - Indian Film & Media Initiative, a volunteer effort to increase business between the two industries.
Creating in India: Paula has been working as a Producer, Director, and Writer in Mumbai since 2012, with a focus on Marathi entertainment. As an entrepreneur, she co-founded the first Marathi Youtube channel BhaDiPa under Gulbadan Talkies, which is now the largest Marathi digital entertainment company in India with more than 5 million followers across its various channels. She is the producer on over 10 Marathi web series, including Pandu & Once a Year (MX Player, 2019), Chikatgunde (Planet Marathi, 2022), and has also won Best Series and Best Director for her work on Shantit Kranti (2022). She is also producer on the highest-watched Marathi web series, B.E. Rojgaar (26 million views on BhaDiPa's Youtube) among several other Youtube web series. With her background in music and sound design, she brings special focus on the audio landscape of all the projects she produces and directs, working closely with Composers such as Saurabh Bhalerao, Suyash Kelkar, AV Prafullachandra, and more.
