The oil business affects everything in the wild West Texas town of Landman, and Billy Bob Thornton is a key cog in that machine.
The second trailer for the next Taylor Sheridan series, this time about the oil business, focuses on Thornton’s Tommy Norris, a crisis manager in the oil industry, and peels back more of the relationships between the star-studded ensemble that includes Thornton, Jon Hamm, Demi Moore and Ali Larter.
“Men die, oil companies don’t,” says Tommy (Thornton) in the high-octane trailer (below), as he describes himself as “a divorced alcoholic with $500 thousand in debt” and pulls his son (Jacob Lofland) into the business.
Hamm stars in a recurring guest role as Monty Miller, a Texas oil industry titan with a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy; Moore plays Cami, the wife of another powerful oil man in Texas and friend of Norris; and Larter plays Norris’ ex-wife.

The Dark Knight's Christopher Nolan Was Not on Board with Joker 2's Original Ending
Prior to the premiere of Joker: Folie à Deux, an anonymous source had leaked the disappointing ending even DC fans couldn't believe was true.
Instead of having Arthur Fleck end his story, well, as the Joker, still, he still ends up with nothing. Not with "Lee" Quinn, and certainly not his legacy as one of Gotham's "villains.

Joker: Folie à Deux Report Reveals Controversial Ending Was Originally Part of the First Movie - Main Image
A new report revealed that Joker: Folie à Deux's controversial ending was originally planned for the first film.
Since its release, the sequel has been heavily criticized by both critics and fans, especially its ending as they felt that it was a betrayal to the audience who have followed Arthur Fleck's journey from the very beginning.
While ending a movie like that might be seen as bold and gutsy, it is clear that the general audience has rejected the idea and it has become the subject of online discourse with different interpretations on what it might have implied.

"Joker 2," or "Joker: Folie à Deux" as absolutely nobody calls it, is finally here! And the results ... are mixed (although you can read our pretty positive review right here). For the sequel to his billion dollar hit "Joker," director Todd Phillips has made a film that deliberately sets out to interrogate the audience of the first film. "Oh, you liked Arthur Fleck?" Phillips is asking here. "Why??" In theory, this is a fascinating idea. I'm all for sequels that try to deconstruct and re-contextualize what came before. On top of that, "Joker 2" is a musical! All of this sounds great on paper.
Unfortunately, the film is a bit of a slog. It's so joyless and dour that watching it begins to feel like a chore. On top of that, Phillips seems genuinely afraid of embracing the musical aspect of the movie — which makes you wonder why the hell...

Will There Be A Joker 3? Director Explains Why Not - Main Image
Joker: Folie à Deux is finally here, and Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck, aka the Joker, alongside Lady Gaga as Harley “Lee” Quinzel, have set in motion a series of dramatic events that lead many fans eager for a Joker 3.
Director Todd Phillips has already addressed the possibility of making more Joker movies.
While he seems to suggest that fans shouldn’t hold their breath for a third instalment, this does sound a lot like his previous statement that Joker 2 wouldn’t happen. This time, though, things are a lot more complicated.
The Future of The Joker
For one, Arthur dies at the end of Joker 2, making a third movie highly unlikely. Also, this time Phillips is adamant that the two films are enough.

However, after a harrowing trial which sees the psychopath forced to reckon with his past actions, Arthur - dressed as Joker - reveals that the persona was just a fantasy and says he was the one who murdered those people.
Lee is in equal parts heartbroken and horrified by this revelation and walks out of the courtroom along with Joker's many other supporters. When a verdict is later reached, a bomb goes off and Arthur is taken to freedom by two of his most devoted fanatics.

There’s a lot of promise in the idea of a musical starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga playing the Joker and Harley Quinn, especially in the latter being portrayed as the ultimate unstable fangirl, and giving Arthur Fleck something to hope for as he goes on trial for the murders committed in Joker. Imagine what John Waters or Paul Thomas Anderson would do with that premise. Hell, we don’t even have to imagine an animated take, as Joker: Folie à Deux’s one true masterstroke of sinister, madcap joy is starting with a short recap of Arthur Fleck’s story created by The Triplets of Belleville director Sylvain Chomet.
When that short is over, though, we get the Todd Phillips version, which is largely anchored to stone-faced reality for 130-plus excruciatingly withholding minutes. In grappling with the implications of its story, Folie à Deux’s every attempt at showcasing cleverness,...

Like the first film, which left fans and critics divided upon its release in 2019, it appears Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker: Folie à Deux is shaping out to be a similar case. While the sequel has opened to underwhelming critical reception, which was also the case for its predecessor, it seems fans’ reaction to the film is going to be a lot more mixed than the first entry.

However, not all DC fans could agree to the climax of the film, which apparently introduces a new Joker to the mix.

Joker: Folie à Deux's Twisted Ending Has Been Leaked and DC Fans Are Not Happy About It

When the review embargo for Joker: Folie à Deux lifted, a couple of the trades - never ones to give spoilers a second thought - alluded to the movie's potentially divisive ending.
The suggestion was that Arthur Fleck dies, meaning he never becomes one of Batman's greatest enemies...something which hasn't ever seemed overly likely in the grounded world filmmaker Todd Phillips and star Joaquin Phoenix have created.
Now, following an additional round of screenings, we have a better idea of why the director recently described the Joker sequel's conclusion as "unsettling" (alluding to reviews which took issue with Joker: Folie à Deux's final moments).
TV spots for the movie have shown an explosion in the courtroom but, according to what we've been told, the blast doesn't kill Arthur. Instead, he manages to flee and reunites with Lee Quinzel...who promptly breaks up with him upon realising his true self is Arthur,...

Bruce Wayne is still a child in Joker and Joker: Folie à Deux, so the movies naturally take place in a period before Batman. But how would Arthur Fleck react if he came face-to-face with the real Batman?
Joker: Folie à Deux director Todd Phillips has a few thoughts on the matter. “I think Arthur would be in awe of the alpha male that is Batman. I really do,” Phillips told IGN. “I think Arthur would look up and appreciate it. I think he’d be in awe of that.”
Phillips believes “Arthur always had a fascination with men at ease, and he is not a man at ease. [Robert De Niro’s] Murray Franklin in the first movie was a man at ease. He probably saw the guys he worked with as men at ease, and that was the one thing that Arthur could never be was a man at ease.

Todd Phillips’ 2019 Oscar-winning Joker did not release in China, but his sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, has been confirmed for October 16 in the market. Warner Bros’ and DC’s official Weibo accounts confirmed the date.
Joker: Folie à Deux, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in early September, debuting to a 12-minute ovation. It will begin overseas rollout on October 2 and release domestically on October 4.
As with Phillips’ first Joker, this one is R-rated, but it passed China’s censors likely due to the less overtly violent nature of the film. The first movie also came amid pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong during which some adopted the character as a symbol. It’s not unprecedented for a U.S. R-rated movie to secure a China release, but it’s also not a given. Deadpool & Wolverine and Alien: Romulus have played the market this year,...

The first reviews of Joker: Folie à Deux have hinted that audiences may find the ending a little divisive, and director Todd Phillips is all too aware of how some fans will react.
“For the people that have seen this movie in general … at the end, they sit and they don’t move for about three to five minutes,” Phillips said during a Q&a (via /Film). “Then they text me, the ones that know me, or email me and go, ‘I need a minute to process the movie.’” Phillips added, “I think it’s going to leave you with a very unsettling … I think it’s unsettling.” Certain outlets appear to have outright spoiled the ending for Joker: Folie à Deux in their reviews, so the reason for this potential reaction is easy to find, but I won’t be sharing it here.

When you thought you’d seen the final trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux, Todd Phillips returns with another explosive preview to whet the whistles of eager fans. Today’s Joker: Folie à Deux trailer showers the film with praise from glowing reviews across the entertainment spectrum, selecting the best of the best quotes from reviews for the movie’s Venice Film Festival screening.
As you may recall, many reactions to Joker: Folie à Deux skewed toward the negative, but WB managed to sift through the weeds to find a bed of flowers thrown at Todd Phillips’ feet for the new trailer. The mixture of reactions to the film reinforces the need to see it for yourself (if you’re interested) and form your own opinion. I’m still waffling about coughing up the cash to see the movie in theaters, but I know plenty who are ready to fork...

"I am free!" Well it's almost time. A few weeks left. Even though they already debuted a "final trailer" weeks ago, WB has unveiled yet another new trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux. This one features one of the songs performed in the movie musical called "That's Life" with a montage of footage. The movie just premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival (to mostly mixed reviews). This all-out Gotham City sequel is being described as a "musical psychological thriller" set in Gotham City, with song & dance worked right into the storyline. Lady Gaga co-stars as Joker's new partner Harley Quinn. Joaquin Phoenix returns as Arthur, with a cast including Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Steve Coogan, Ken Leung, & Harry Lawtey. I wasn't the biggest fan of Joker 2 (here's my full review) this time – I think it's well made but doesn't hit as hard as the first movie.

Welcome to the world of oil. Those are the ominous words that end the first trailer for “Landman,” Taylor Sheridan’s new drama series starring Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm and Demi Moore. The show will premiere its first two episodes on Paramount+ Nov. 17.
“The oil and gas industry makes $3 billion a day in pure profit. And it’s only getting bigger,” Thornton’s Tommy Norris says in the opening of the trailer. He then outlines that to make that money, you need to do two things: secure the land and manage the people.
“First part’s pretty simple. It’s the second part that can get you killed,” Tommy says.
After he drops that bomb, disaster strikes. Dynamic shots of men in suits boarding private planes and Tommy in his cowboy hat are replaced by a scene of workers on an oil rig. The trailer then cuts to blast as the sound drops out.

One of the most eagerly awaited sequels of the year, Joker: Folie à Deux, is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2024. However, the film recently had its global premiere in Venice, reigniting conversations about its upcoming release.

Early reviews from critics at the Venice premiere suggest that Joker: Folie à Deux might not live up to the success of the first film, though more opinions will emerge in the weeks to come.

It’s Joker: Folie à Deux day here on the Lido, with director Todd Phillips and stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in town for the world premiere of Warner Bros/DC’s crime drama with musical flourishes. Before that, Philipps, Joker Best Actor Oscar winner Phoenix, and Gaga fielded questions from the press who had attended a packed show this morning.
The trio were in a playful mood, particularly Phoenix, who repeatedly turned down the invitation to answer questions. Joker: Folie À Deux is Phillips’ return to the Lido after clinching the festival Golden Lion with the first film in 2019.

"This music within him - it's messy, it's chaotic, it's expressing the complexity of love." WB has debuted a quick music featurette for Joker: Folie à Deux, premiering this week at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. We already posted the official trailer a few months ago, and with this big moment about to happen, they're ramping up the final marketing blitz. Don't forget that Joker 2 is actually a musical! They've hidden this fact from the trailers for the most part, but this making of featurette offers a quick glimpse at a few musical numbers. This all-out sequel is being described as a "musical psychological thriller" set in Gotham City, with many songs being worked into the story featuring Lady Gaga appearing as Joker's new partner Harley Quinn. Joaquin Phoenix returns as Arthur, with Zazie Beetz and a cast including Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Steve Coogan, Ken Leung, & Harry Lawtey.

Todd Phillip’s anticipated follow-up to the massive hit Joker is set to hit screens in about a month. The side-film origin story that told a different interpretation of the popular Batman villain was the former highest-grossing R-rated film until this year’s Deadpool & Wolverine overtook it for the number-one spot. Perhaps Joker: Folie à Deux can offer up some new competition? The sequel not only explores Arthur Fleck’s blossoming romance with Harley Quinn, who is portrayed by Lady Gaga, but the upcoming film also sports a musical twist.
While the first film kept the Batman ties close by including the Wayne family, this new film expands to more characters of the universe as the official social media account of Joker: Folie à Deux has unveiled a new ad for the movie that features an appearance by Gotham District Attorney Harvey Dent. Obviously, fans know him by his Batman villain alias,...
