Took Piano and Clarinet lessons from the age of 10. By the age of 14, she was teaching younger students clarinet lessons. In high school, she taught herself how to play the flute and saxophone. Her band director also liked to play up the fact that she could play multiple instruments during competitions. She also played percussion during concerts and football games.

After receiving an invitation, she traveled Europe with the United States Collegiate Wind Band after she graduated high school. The concert band traveled through France, Germany, Italy, Austria, The Netherlands, Switzerland, and England.
