Michaella Vu was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her father, Tom Vu, was an infomercial personality of the late 80s to 90s, and her mother, Katerina is a historical researcher. Her father is a Vietnamese refugee and her mother is from Greece.
She began training as an actor with Lalanya Masters at the age of 14 and moved to New York City after high school to study at Susan Batson Studios. Upon moving to Los Angeles she began her merger behind the camera. A couple years later an old elementary school friend had a dream that led to the funding of her first virtual reality film Neural Path VR Experience (2016), which led to her directorial debut at the Virtual Reality Toronto conference in 2016 and has appeared at various festivals and events. Her next series "Meta-Dimensional" is a meta-story, a single, expanding narrative that treats different media formats as one connected storytelling canvas by connecting 360 filmmaking and the immersive web to shape the next evolution of stories and how viewers experience them.
