William Merritt Thomas grew up in Colorado, graduating from Evergreen H.S. in 2006. After receiving a BFA in Film Studies from CU, Boulder, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 2012 to seek work in the film industry. In the spring of 2013, he started his first job as a Production Assistant on a TV pilot. For the next 7 years, he worked on dozens of New Mexico film, TV, and new media productions as a Set PA in all of its aspects.
In early 2021, he landed his first 2nd 2nd Assistant Director position on the feature, "Canyon del Muerto." Since then, he has worked as an AD in multiple capacities, officially joining the DGA in August of 2021 as a Second Assistant Director. Today, he continues to live out his love for filmmaking as an Assistant Director in the beautiful landscapes of the American West.
