Brooke M. Haney is an out and proud, queer intimacy coordinator, choreographer and consultant who has worked regionally in the states and internationally in the Philippines, Germany, Kenya and Switzerland. They are one of the first 50 intimacy coordinators recognized as qualified by SAG-AFTRA and Editor of "The Intimacy Coordinator's Guidebook: Specialties for Stage and Screen", the first book on advanced intimacy choreography, published by Routledge in 2024. Additionally, in 2016, they created "The Actor's Warm Down", a 20 minute closure practice for actors who have been activated by traumatic or difficult work.
Initially, Brooke worked primarily as an intimacy choreographer in theaters and Academia and transitioned to film and TV during the Covid 19 pandemic. They specialize in authentic representation of queer stories, stories of complicated and non-consent, and comedy. They have worked with CBS, Paramount+, Peacock, HBO, Amazon Prime, 20th Century Television and more.
Brooke is a speaker and workshop leader professionally and in academia and has intimacy choreographed shows and taught workshops at NYU, Vassar College, Syracuse University, University of Central Florida, Missouri State, Ventura College and Marymount Manhattan College, where they taught for eight years. Their BA in Theater Arts is from the University of Washington, and they earned their MFA in performance from the University of Central Florida.
