Rená Tardin is a movie director, video editor, and screenwriter. He has a Bachelor's degree in Journalism by the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro and in Cinema by the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in Portugal. He has more than eight years of experience editing videos, and has directed short films and a feature documentary that were shown in dozens of international festivals.
He worked on O Som da Roda (2008), Aqui, Doido Varrido Não Vai pra Debaixo do Tapete (2010), shown at the Première Brasil of the 2010 Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival and at the XXV Trieste Festival of Latin-American Cinema. His short film, Coutinho Repórter tells the story of one of the greatest Brazilian documentarists: Eduardo Coutinho. The film was shown at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, the Festival of New Latin-American Cinema of Havana, in Cuba, the É Tudo Verdade festival, the Mostra Cine BH festival, the ForumDOC.BH. festival, the Dockanema festival in Maputo, Mozambique, among others.
Throughout the years, he worked as a video editor for TV series, documentaries, fiction movies, and corporate videos for the main producers in Rio de Janeiro. In 2013, working for Conspiração Filmes, he edited Vai que Cola, the most-watched TV series in a Brazilian cable channel in ten years.
In 2014, he edited As Titulares, a documentary series exhibited by Brazilian cable channel GNT, and StreetKids United, produced by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot and The Hours). For producer Zola, he edited the second and third seasons of Vai que Cola. In 2015, he edited Olho Mágico, a documentary series exhibited by GNT, Romance Policial - Espinosa, directed by José Henrique Fonseca and Vicente Amorim, and the cooking show Que Marravilha!.
In 2016, he edited Os Valentins, a children series directed by José Henrique Fonseca that will be exhibited by Brazilian cable channel Canal Gloob in 2017.
His most recent film is Longe do Oeste, which tells the story of Paulo Tardin, a movie lover that keeps a collection of around thirty thousand western movies in his home. The movie premiered at the 5th KingBonn Award - China International New Media Short Film Festival, in Shenzhen, China. The movie was shown at the 25th Lone Pine Film Festival in California in 2014, and at the XV Lanzarote International Film Festival in the Canary Islands, Spain, in 2015.
