Afonso Mota (April 20, 1993) was born and raised in Lisbon. In 2015, he graduated in Cinematography at Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, in Lisbon. In the same year, his first short 'Empty Room' received an honorable mention at Festival Vila do Conde. His second short 'The South' was selected for IndieLisboa in 2016. In 2019, he directed his first fiction film 'Phantom Power'.
