Yuriy was born in Moscow. His childhood and youth were spent in Tambov. In his school years, he became interested in theater, studied in a drama group, where he decided on the choice of a future profession. In 1982 he graduated from the theater department of the Voronezh State Institute of Arts (now the Voronezh State Academy of Arts), the course of Violetta Topolaga. Immediately after graduation, he was accepted into the troupe of the Kursk Regional Drama Theater named after Alexander Pushkin, where he served for 30 years. On the stage of this theater he played about 70 roles.
Since 2012 - actor of the Yaroslavl Chamber Theater under the direction of Vladimir Vorontsov.
Since 2006, Arkhangelskiy began acting in films. The very first role - Oleg Krasin - in the criminal detective Zashchita Krasina (2006) - brought him fame. His hero is the head of the homicide department. In 2011, was released Chuzhoy rayon (2012), in which he played one of the main roles - Ivan Sychyov, nicknamed "Sych".
