Suhail Chandhok
- Actor
Vijaya Productions' latest find, Suhail, is very much a Chennai boy and
has landed in the midst of the movie world by a wonderful stroke of
fate. While he was busy progressing his career as a professional
cricketer, multiple knee surgeries halted his surge and things soon
changed.
His sporting accolades came as result of the genes passed down from his paternal side, known for their sporting prowess. It was Suhail's South Indian roots however, from his mother, which had subconsciously inclined him to the creative arts as he dabbled with theatre through school and college.
Recovering from a surgery in 2012, Suhail chose to use that time to reignite his passion for acting by making a series of short films, which soon went viral on YouTube. As destiny would have it, his versatility and potential as an actor in these films, under the alias of "Johnny Vetrivel", caught the eye of star actor Ajith Kumar. This was then the catalyst in Ajith introducing him to Director Siva, to play a pivotal debut role in the 2014 Pongal blockbuster hit, "Veeram".
Fun facts: Suhail was invited and was part of the core training squad of the Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL Team in 2009 ahead of the Champions League T20 and trained with the squad again in 2010. A self confessed foodie and writer, Suhail has even written for magazines such as BBC Good Food & GQ Magazine etc.
