- When Army-brat Kathy was 3 years old, she took a baby ballet class in the garage of a nice neighbor lady. Her mother, seeing the effect it had on her precocious, energetic toddler decided to enroll her in a real studio. This got Kathy out of the garage and onto a stage. Her first dance recital at age four led to starring in the elementary school Christmas play, "Hildegard the Homely Doll" at the ripe age of five. As the Kelly family moved with each new Army assignment, Kathy's mom made finding a ballet studio for Kathy a priority. In her senior year of high school, a friend convinced Kathy, a serious student of classical ballet, to audition for the Senior play, "You Can't Take It With You" because one of the characters was a ballet dancer. She didn't get the role, instead she was cast as the ingenue lead. Still, it took Kathy several years to have the courage to call herself an actress, when deep in her heart she knew that storytelling and truthful portrayal of the human experience was the thing that would bring her the most joy in life. She started out in musicals because of her dancing and had her first professional job at a summer stock company in Tulsa, Oklahoma performing in the only outdoor production of "Oklahoma!" and a historical musical drama, "Dust on Her Petticoats". She subsequently was hired as Professor of Dance in the Drama Department at Cameron University, in Lawton Oklahoma, where she honed her choreography and acting skills in many college and community theatre productions. Feeling the world of academia was not for her, she left for a stint in professional Regional Theatre which ultimately led her to New York City where she felt she could get the acting training she needed. There she studied diligently and performed in numerous off-off Broadway productions and eventually segued into film, television and commercial work. She has been seen on HBO, The Travel Channel, Discovery, ID, OETA and films opposite Hugh Grant, Ben Stiller, Sally Field and more. Kathy was fortunate to have a featured dancing role in Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon." She is grateful to have found an acting community in Oklahoma after leaving NYC to be closer to her family. Not only performing on stage, she has also starred in several local commercial spots and homegrown, award-winning features and short films.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Kathy Kelly Christos
