Jack Bassam Barakat was born in Lebanon, but his family fled to Baltimore, Maryland when he was an infant. His
mother, Joyce, and his father, Bassam, have two other children, May and Joe. Jack is of Lebanese decent and will often be referred to
as the "Lebanese Prince." The Barakat's raised their children in
Baltimore, where Jack met his current best friends. During his high
school years, Jack and his friend Marc Shilling decided to start a
band. Jack knew a drummer from middle school, Yanni Giannaros, who
would join them. Jack managed to convince his friend Alex Gaskarth to
play guitar and sing with the band. Now a foursome, the band decided on
the name NeverReck, and began to compose their own songs. After a
while, Giannaros was replaced on the drums by Rian Dawson. Months
later, Shilling was booted from the band. The threesome found temporary
bassists until finally ending up with Zack Merrick. All Time Low became
an official band, recording and releasing music by 2004 with an EP
called The Three Words to Remember in Dealing With the End and then in
2005 with the full-length The Party Scene - and went on to sign
Hopeless Records in 2006. In 2007 they released So Wrong, It's Right
and in 2009, released Nothing Personal. From there All Time Low's fame
skyrocketed, propelling Jack Barakat and his new best friends into the
music scene headfirst. All Time Low was on the rise, and all of their
concerts were being sold out quickly.
