Izabella Pörös grew up with an English teacher mother and a film historian father. Her father worked as a video librarian and would often bring home VHS tapes. In the afternoons, her parents would close all the curtains and plunge the house into complete darkness, where they would watch crime and thriller movies.
She attended several screenwriting workshops and completed a 1-year documentary directing course. Her debut short, It's a Long Way, premiered at the NYC International Film Festival in 2015, earning her a Best Direction nomination and later an audience award at Mediawave Film Festival. Her 2017 music video, Runaway, won the Best Indie Filmmaker award at Top Shorts in the US, and a Best Direction nomination at the Music Video Underground in Paris. Since then she has also directed, Sin, a film that depicts biblical themes in the modern world, highlighting societal prejudice against women that exists today as it has throughout the ages. Recently, she has been working on a documentary about a female volunteer firefighter.
