Chicago – It’s rare to see a director debut that is nuanced, anarchistic and different, but the high school coming-of-age comedy “The Crusades” – by first-timer Leo Milano – scores with its solid comedic script, unique characters and passionate homage to Chicagoland’s Northwest Burbs, as well as featuring hot actor Rudy Pankow (Netflix’s “Outer Banks”).

The film will be released through Vmi International beginning this Friday, July 7th, and will be available to stream via Apple, Vudu, Amazon, Xfinity and more. Check your provider. Vmi Worldwide has come on board worldwide sales rights for TIFF to coming-of-age story The Crusades starring Rudy Pankow from Netflix’s Outer Banks.

Leo Milano directed the film about three friends at an all-boys private high school about to merge with a rival institution who plan one final hurrah while dodging authority, love affairs and violent foes in the longest weekend of their lives.

Exclusive: Rudy Pankow has signed with CAA.

The actor is best known for his role as JJ in the Netflix series Outer Banks, which is currently filming its third season. He’s also in the Sony film Uncharted opposite Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland. He plays the younger version of Sam, the older brother of Nathan Drake (Holland).

Pankow will next be seen as the lead in the indie Chocolate Lizards that’s based on the 1999 novel of the same name. The film centers on Erwin Vandeveer (Pankow), a Harvard-educated actor whose car breaks down outside Buffalo Gap, Texas. There, he meets roughneck Merle Luskey (Thomas Haden Church), who is about to lose his oil drilling operation in 30 days, unless he can come up with the money to pay off his bank note.
