Khoa Lê studied filmmaking at the Université du Québec à Montréal (2004-2008) and film production at the National Institute of Image and Sound (2008).
Afterwards, he directed several short films. His first feature-length documentary Bà Nôi (2013) won the Pluralism Award from the Inspirit Foundation at the Hot Docs Festival in 2013, as well as the Best New Talent from Quebec / Canada Award at the Montreal International Documentary Festival the same year. He has directed music videos for numerous artists including Ingrid St-Pierre, Émile Bilodeau, and Dear Criminals, in addition to directing artistic performances.
In 2018, he opened the Café Denise restaurant in Montreal with two partners. In 2021, he co-founded Afterglo, a company dedicated to intimate pleasures. He places the human experience at the heart of his approach and is particularly interested in plural identities and the staging of reality.
