Off Broadway’s Signature Theatre is hosting the world premiere of Tony-winning playwright David Henry Hwang’s new biographical play Kung Fu, starring So You Think You Can Dance season nine standout Cole Horibe as martial arts legend Bruce Lee. I realize we’re a week off from the finale, but now’s as good a time as ever to ask the tough question: What is missing from this damn season of So You Think You Can Dance? I still say Sytycd is the greatest reality-competition on TV; I still say it’s an explosive That’s Entertainment!-type spectacle every week; and I still believe Mary Murphy‘s hair and face are the same dynamite color that I’m calling This-Ranch-Hand’s-Been-Dead-For-Days Orange, but season 10 manages to fall short as addictive television.

Strange considering the choreography still rules, the judging is 100% fantastic if you disqualify Carly Rae Jepsen‘s appearance (Thank you to this week’s guest-judge Jesse Tyler Ferguson for that scathing, hilarious aside about her failed guest stint, and the talent level is impossibly high. Before we get to this week’s dances, a necessary note: I am obsessed with guest-judge Paula Abdul and can’t help if my judgment last night was altered thanks to her presence. She’s Paula, y’all. Forever your girl in ’88, spellbinding you in ’91, and throttling you with sex appeal and bandleader jackets forever after. And get this, I also love this week’s other guest judge Erin Andrews — one of the underrated smart ladies of broadcasting. Hell yes to this unlikely duo of visitors. If you’re a longtime reader of my slobbering insightful Sytycd critiques, you’re aware that I was obsessed with last year’s self-proclaimed ninja Cole Horibe and his partner, miniature Maureen McCormick doll Lindsay Arnold. We’ll start with the surprising news: Wayne Brady? A very satisfactory So You Think You Can Dance judge. His vaudevillian humor and instincts dovetail nicely with the required theatricality of Sytycd contestants, so I was happy to hear him offer praise and criticism in that regard. He was certainly more capable of analyzing contestants than the blankly jovial Minnie Driver, who — in case you forgot — was a judge on this show. So strange.

The final day of auditions brought with it a few thrilling characters, including a few who narrowly missed my Top 5 readout. Among the also-rans: Courtney Thurston earned herself a disqualification from this list by choosing Celine Dion‘s “The Power of Love” and patting her heart repeatedly to illustrate The Power Of Love. Even Peabo Bryson‘s like, “That’s a little cheesy.” Trapeze expert Elyse Frelinger moved gracefully, but her Mira Sorvino-esque good looks...

So You Think You Can Dance 2012 Chehon & Eliana won the show tonight. Earlier tonight, "So You Think You Can Dance 2012" ran their finale show to finally reveal the two winners. It kicked off with a whole slew of performances from the season's top 20 dancers,and also saw a performance from new singing sensation Carly Rae Jepsen,and more. All of the festivities went on for almost a whopping 2 hours. Then finally,host Kat Deeley, brought the final two girls Tiffany Maher and Eliana Girard to the stage to find out who was the winner for the girls. They watched a video montage for the two of them. Then Kat revealed that Eliana beat out Tiffany on the girl's side to take the crown. First the good news: "So You Think You Can Dance" has its final four dancers. Tiffany Maher, Eliana Girard, Chehon Wespi-Tschopp and Cyrus Spencer will all vie for America's votes in next Tuesday's (Sept. 11) performance finale.

The bad news: Witney Carson and Cole Horibe were automatically eliminated after receiving the fewest votes.

Even though America decided their fate after last week's performance show, each contestant had to perform three dances tonight: solo, paired with an All-Star and paired with a fellow finalist.

"Up All Night" star Christina Applegate returned as a guest judge -- and poor predictor. "Your foot was terrible in your pirouette," she said about his jazz routine with reigning champ Melanie Moore, "but I don't give a s***, because you're so good. And we'll see you next week."

Tears were streaming during So You Think You Can Dance Wednesday - even before two more dancers were sent home. The night turned emotional early on, when, with his Swiss parents in the audience for the first time, ballet dancer Cheyon Wespi-Tschopp took to the stage for his solo. "You have to remember these dancers are kids who have dreamed of doing this their whole life," guest judge Jesse Tyler Ferguson told People after Wednesday’s show. Perhaps it's his infectious enthusiasm or his clear passion for the show. Whatever it is, "Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson keeps getting invited back as a guest judge on "So You Think You Can Dance."

This time, he was on hand to watch yet another powerful performance by all-star Allison Holker. This time, she was partnered with martial arts dancer Cole Horibe, who was asked to portray a sadistic and soulless character.

Cole perfectly captured the character, as he has in previous weeks, bringing the judges to their feet. It wouldn't be their last time on a night filled with strong performances. But it was this one that left Ferguson shaking and in need of a cocktail.

The So You Think You Can Dance All-Stars returned to dance with the Top 10 contestants Wednesday night — and look who we have here! Season 7 standout Alex Freaking Wong, who exited early because of an Achilles tendon injury and had to sit out last summer, after being invited back as an All-Star, because he’d hurt the Other Achilles tendon. I would guess that Alex Wong’s abs positively loathe his Achilles tendons for denying them their rightful opportunity to glisten on national television whenever possible.
