Filming has begun on season two of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Netflix announced the production news along with some additional casting. The streaming service renewed the series through a third and final season in March.

Chin Han, Hoa Xuande, Justin Chien, Amanda Zhou, Crystal Yu, Kelemete Misipeka, Lourdes Faberes, and Rekha Sharma have joined Gordon Cormier, Ian Ousley, Kiawentiio, Dallas Liu, Ken Leung, Elizabeth Yu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, and Daniel Dae Kim star in the series that follows young Aang (Cormier) as he masters the four elements. Avatar: The Last Airbender is rounding out its Season 2 cast with eight new additions.

Joining the ensemble are Chin Han (Mortal Kombat, Skyscraper) as Long Feng; Hoa Xuande (The Sympathizer, Top of the Lake: China Girl) as Professor Zei; Justin Chien (The Brothers Sun) as King Kuei; Amanda Zhou (Spinning Out, The Handmaid’s Tale) as Joo Dee; Crystal Yu (Doctor Who, Good Omens) as Lady Beifong; Kelemete Misipeka (Sons of Thunder) as The Boulder; Lourdes Faberes (The Sandman) as General Sung; and Rekha Sharma (Yellowjackets, Battlestar Galactica) as Amita.

Production is currently underway on Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender season two, and the streamer just announced new additions to the cast. The eight actors round out the ensemble of the much-anticipated second season of the fantasy series.

Per Netflix, the new cast and characters are:

o Chin Han (Mortal Kombat) as “Long Feng”

o Hoa Xuande (The Sympathizer) as “Professor Zei”

o Justin Chien (The Brothers Sun) as “King Kuei”

o Amanda Zhou (The Handmaid’s Tale) as “Joo Dee”

o Crystal Yu (Doctor Who) as “Lady Beifong”

o Kelemete Misipeka (Sons of Thunder) as “The Boulder”

o Lourdes Faberes (The Sandman) as “General Sung”

o Rekha Sharma (Yellowjackets) as “Amita”

“Avatar: The Last Airbender” continues to expand it’s Season 2 cast, now with alum from “The Sympathizer” and “Brothers Sun.”

Hoa Zuande – who had a breakout role in “The Sympathizer” opposite Robert Downey Jr. earlier this year – was cast as Professor Zei for the sophomore season. Justin Chien from “Brothers Sun” earned the role of King Kuei.

They aren’t the only new adds to the second season. Chin Han joins as Long Feng, Amanda Zhou as Joo Dee, Crystal Yu as Lady Beifong, Kelemete Misipeka as The Boulder, Lourdes Faberes as General Sung, and Rekha Sharma as Amita.

Netflix previously announced at Geeked Week 2024 that fan-favorite earthbender Toph would be played by Miya Cech. Toph is a blind earthbending prodigy who ends up tagging along with Avatar Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley).

The series is a live action adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series of the same name.

After casting Miya Cech as Toph Beifong, the best character in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Netflix is adding eight more to its cast to round out Earth Kingdom’s members. Anticipation for the final two seasons of the live-action series could not be higher after a thrilling February debut, with fans old and new enjoying the antics of Aang and his friends.

Netflix announced in September that Miya Cech would play Toph Beifong for the series, much to the delight of fans. Toph Beifong is a blind teenager who (eventually) agrees to train Aang in the ancient art of earth-bending.

Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” live-action series has added eight actors to the cast of Season 2, Variety has learned exclusively.

The new cast members are: Chin Han, Hoa Xuande, Justin Chien, Amanda Zhou, Crystal Yu, Kelemete Misipeka, Lourdes Faberes, and Rekha Sharma.

Han will play Long Feng, who was the leader of Ba Sing Se secret police, the Dai Li, in the animated Nickelodeon series. Xuande will play Professor Zei, head of the anthropology department at Ba Sing Se University in the original series who was obsessed with finding Wan Shi Tong’s Library.

Chien will play King Kuei, ruler of the Earth Kingdom. Zhou will play Joo Dee, a public servant and guide for important visitors in Ba Sing Se. Yu will play Lady Beifong, Toph’s mother.
