Jazz Vila is an actor, director, playwright and producer born in Havana, Cuba. In 2004 he graduated from the prestigious School of Performing Arts in Cuba.
His latest works include the film Hotel Coppelia, for which he was nominated for "Best Lead Actor" at the Dominican Film Association Awards (ADOCINE), and the action comedy The Mick and the Trick in which he co-stars alongside veteran actor Peter Greene. Among his television credits are the series Paquita Salas (Netflix) and SKAM (Movistar Plus).
Vilá achieved recognition thanks to his performance of La China in the film Juan de los Muertos (Alejandro Brugués). For this role he obtained the favor of the critics, the public and the candidature for the nomination of the Goya Awards (Spain) as "Best Beginner Actor" and a nomination as "Best Movie Actor" for the Shangay Magazine Award.
He has been awarded the "Honorary Award" by the Cuórum Morelia Film Festival 2023 (Mexico), the "Special Mention for Theater" in the Casa Teatro International Literary Contest 2016 (Dominican Republic) and the "Incubator Artist Program" 2017 in Texas (USA). In addition, Jazz has been invited to prestigious events such as the Avignon Festival, the "Talent Corner" of the Cannes Festival (France), the "Talent Guadalajara", the Platino Awards (Mexico), and the "Berlinale Talent" (Germany).
Jazz is the founder and executive director of the entertainment company Jazz Vila Projects and parallel to his artistic agenda supports various social projects as a cultural ambassador through his foundation Jazz Vilá PorDentro.
