Decided he wanted to be a film director at the age of 6. He cites the films House of Dark Shadows (1970) and Phantom of the Opera (1943) as the films that helped make his decision.

Wrote the afterword for the film studies book "Nights of Dan Curtis: The Television Epics of the Dark Shadows Auteur, Horror Western and War" by Dr. Jeff Thompson.
