Anthony Zygavicius James was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, during the last year of Soviet occupation. There he studied at the National Art School and then BA (Hons) Film Production at the University of Westminster in London. After graduating as Art Director of the Student Oscar-winning film For Elsie (2011), Anthony entered the industry as a storyboard artist, visualizing ideas by directors Kathryn Bigelow, Spike Jones, Joseph Kosinski, Tom Hooper, Jonathan Glazer, Wally Pfister, Tarsem Singh, and Julia Ducournau. Since 2005 Anthony directed over a dozen shorts, including The Roof (2014), which after premiering at Raindance got picked up for distribution by Shorts International, and Day One (2018), which was developed into his debut feature Ghost (2020).
