- Growing up by the sea on the East Coast of England, Richard had a very conventional upbringing influenced by a variety of films from Laurel and Hardy to 'Star Wars'. After being educated at local schools, Richard went on to college where he was introduced to film as a topic for analysis and as an academic discipline for the first time. The films that were most significant in this cinematic epiphany were 'Rebel Without A Cause', 'Easy Rider' and 'The Graduate'.
Inspired by this, Richard completed his B.A. Honours Degree in Film Studies at the University of Kent at Canterbury. Specific areas of study included both French and Italian cinemas, both of which continue to influence him.
After he graduated, Richard worked as a volunteer for a local Arts Organisation where he acted in 'Bad Vibes' as well as making a Super 8mm. experimental film. He continued to have ideas for films but did little about them in the next few years, but instead lectured on film.
Richard now divides his time between film projects, writing and radio work.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Richard Harrison
