The Man Who Fell to Earth will not be back on Showtime for a second season, it has been announced.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series was initially conceived as a limited series, but that changed about halfway through production.
However, Showtime feels like the story came to a natural conclusion with its first season finale that aired earlier this year.
“Our thanks to the extraordinary Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet, John Hlavin and Sarah Timberman who did a great job of turning the David Bowie film into such a resonant tale for our times,” a Showtime spokesperson said in a statement to THR.
“And kudos to a wondrous cast led by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Naomie Harris and Bill Nighy for bringing it to life."
"Alex and Jenny originally intended The Man Who Fell To Earth to be a close-ended story."

Showtime has released the official trailer for "The Man Who Fell to Earth," and it looks like it's going to be riveting. Not that I wouldn't say that for most things that Chiwetel Ejiofor is in. The man has a powerful ability to make me forget anything going on around me and just focus on his performance. He isn't the only one; this series has a cast packed with stars, including Naomie Harris, Jimmi Simpson, Rob Delaney, Sonya Cassidy, Joana Ribeiro, Annelle Olaleye, Kate Mulgrew, Clarke Peters and Bill Nighy.

Showtime offers the next step to the universe of The Man Who Fell To Earth with its upcoming series of the same name starring Chiwetel Ejofor and Naomie Harris. While not a remake Nicolas Roeg’s 1976 film starring David Bowie series, executive producer, writer and director Alex Kurtzman said the series seeks to pay tribute to previous forms of the sci-fi story.
“I think it’s amazing and it’s beautiful that Walter Teviis is having is moment right now. I wish he had more of it when he was alive so he could appreciate how much people appreciate his work,” Kurtman said of the novelist, who also penned The Queen’s Gambit. I think we felt a tremendous debt to honor the legacy of David Bowie, of Walter Tevis and Nicolas Roeg – of all the people who built these extraordinary stories because they clearly wrenched their hearts open to tell them.

Terry Gilliam’s’ long-delayed rendition of The Man Who Killed Don Quixote has taken over twenty-eight years to come to fruition, but alas, after multiple delays, a stroke and, a lawsuit against a release, Gilliam’s film has finally been released for all to see, albeit in an incredibly diluted and sadly quiet fashion. For a film that has almost killed three cast members involved in a life span of thirty years any film of such high esteem and high calibre ought to be worth viewing alone for the pain and pressure that went into realising such a project, but unfortunately, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is all seemingly inconsequential.
The Man Who Killed Don Quixote...

In 1952, Warner Bros. released a version of “The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima” that boasted, “To the best of human knowledge, and according to the testimony of 100,000 witnesses … This Is A True Story!” That film, hokey in some ways, inspirational in others, purported to be a fact-based account of a faith-based story, one that occurred in 1917 against the backdrop of a world war, wherein three Portuguese shepherd children experienced several visits by the Virgin Mary, who bestowed certain insights upon them before unleashing a spectacular solar light show so as to convince all those assembled.
Director Marco Pontecorvo revisits these events in the superficially suspicious “Fatima,” which arrives at a moment when faith and facts find themselves in direct opposition, when claims of “fake news” render the very notion of “a true story” all but meaningless. The film releases in theaters and on demand amid a global crisis — not just the pandemic,...

"What do you want from us?" Picturehouse has debuted an official Us trailer for an indie drama based on a true story titled Fatima. A powerful and uplifting drama about the power of faith, Fatima tells the story of a 10-year-old shepherd and her two young cousins in Fátima, Portugal (Google Maps) in 1917, who report seeing visions of the Virgin Mary. Their revelations inspire believers but anger officials of both the Church and the secular government, who try to force them to recant their story. As word of their prophecy spreads, tens of thousands of religious pilgrims flock to the site in hopes of witnessing a miracle. Of course. Starring Stephanie Gil, with Joaquim de Almeida, Lúcia Moniz, Joana Ribeiro, Harvey Keitel, Goran Visnjic, and Sonia Braga. This looks especially cheesy, and made mostly for the faithful to feel the power. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Marco Pontecorvo's Fatima,...
