Producers aiming for autumn 2022 shoot at convent on west coast of Denmark.

Jeppe Ronde’s next film Acts Of Love has won the best project award in the Nordic Co-Production Market at Haugesund’s New Nordic Films.

Inspired by his own family history, Ronde will tell the story of a young woman living in a religious community whose life is interrupted when her brother visits, forcing them to confront their childhood trauma. Ronde co-writes the script with Christopher Grøndahl.

The industry audience – 300 people both onsite and online – voted on the winner.

Julie Walenciak and Maria Møller Christoffersen will produce Acts Of Love for Paloma Pictures.

The family drama flick will star Morten Hee Andersen in the role of a young man who sells fireworks illegally. The cameras are rolling on Christian Bengtson's debut feature, a family drama entitled Krysantemum. Before working on this film, Bengtson attended the National Film School of Denmark and made several shorts, all of which garnered nominations at the Danish Film Awards. Krysantemum follows a young man called Anders (played by Morten Hee Andersen), who is involved in illegal firework sales. Anders must make amends with his father, Thomas (Henrik Birch), whom he hasn't spoken to for years following a tragedy, as they try to save their family farm. The film has been described as an “explosive” family drama that presents an emotional and thrilling look at a family involved in illegal transportation and sales, and their search for forgiveness. Beware Of Children, directed by Norway’s Dag Johan Haugerud, has won the Dragon Award for Best Nordic Film in Goteborg tonight (1 Feb).

The prize money of $104,000 (Sek 1m) makes it the world’s largest film prize. The backers are Volvo Car Group, Region Västra Götaland and the City Council of Gothenburg.

Since “Sons of Denmark’s” world bow at Rotterdam in 2019, Danish writer/director Ulaa Salim and producer Daniel Mühlendorph have enjoyed invites to 50 world festivals, and won nine awards – including best director at Seattle – and distribution in eight territories, negotiated by New Europe Film Sales. Those take in China (Huanxi Films), the U.K./Ireland (Eureka), Benelux (Windmill), Germany (Koch Media), Filmin (Spain), Programestore (France), Windmill (Benelux), Ale Kino (Poland) and Arthouse Traffic (Ukraine).
