All the talk of BillyTime!Games‘ Rom hack of Ghostbusters on the Sega Genesis got us thinking of other horror-themed Rom hacks that you may not be aware of. Obviously, the topics of Rom hacking and video game emulation are reserved for a different website, but that shouldn’t stop us from touching on them for this specific purpose. After all, the creativity of fans is shown time and time again when it comes to modding on PC, so why not consoles?
Here are some reworkings of games by fans that either offer a whole new way of playing a game with a horror makeover, or just enhance the original game to add that something that was “missing” from the original release.
Just as a legal note, none of the links in this article lead to the actual Rom images. We are not hosting the Rom files. Google is your...

There’s plenty to love about Undertale, the 2015 ultra-indie RPG that evoked the 16-bit classics of yore while asking players to kill as little as possible. And while it’s easy to get swept up in the strange gameplay and quirky humor, it’s creator Toby Fox’s melodic (and pixelated) score you’re likely to cherish long…...

Game Freak seem to be taking some flak for moving away from the Pokemon franchise, which they have been synonymous with for quite some time. In truth, Little Town Hero doesn’t deviate too far from the card-battling formula. With a surprisingly in-depth battle system and being set in a quaint, odd little village, it may not be to everyone’s tastes but I can see the idiosyncratic design really appealing to some.
You play as a red-haired child who dreams of venturing beyond the confines of his village. No-one else (apart from a handful of your friends) seem bothered by the fact that they are effectively prisoners and so you yearn to become a soldier at the towering castle that looms prettily over the village and townsfolk.
The main draw here is the intricate battle system. Whilst the developer’s release statement mentions that the game is designed ‘with...

In modern video games, choice is king. It seems as though almost every major release is chock full of dialogue choices, optional missions, branching storylines and multiple endings all designed to create a more immersive interactive experience and make each player feel they’ve been given a unique and personal journey.
Some choices however, do more than enhance an experience, they ask players to make a decision so onerous that it weighs on their conscience, making players feel as though they’ve left a part of themselves in the game. Here are our top seven such in-game choices that left us scarred to this day.
Beware Of Major Story Spoilers For Entries Seven, Three And Two
7. Mass Effect 3 (2012)
The decision: Cure the genophage or let it continue
The history of Mass Effect’s universe is rich and complex, but one historical point that’s prevalent throughout the series is the genophage.

With 2018 on the way out, our contributors have been looking back at the best the year’s had to offer in terms of video games. There’s no shortage of great games to choose from this year, but we felt these were the cream of the crop.
Last week, our contributors broke down their individual top lists for the year in movies (read Part 1 and Part 2), but today, we’ve turned to our gaming crew to highlight the best games of the year. Once again, it’s a difficult list to narrow down, but we forced ourselves to stick to only five choices:
Jordan
As is the case every year, my best of gaming list is kind of eclectic. Considering that with all the kids in the house it’s difficult for me to play the most recent releases, I spend most of my time catching up on Last year’s release.

Some fans believe Delatrune is a teaser for a new Undertale game.
Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale, has released a new RPG called Deltarune that is kind of, sorta, maybe related to Undertale.
Deltarune (which you probably noticed is an anagram for Undertale), is a strange little project. It's a free game that you can download right now via this website. Just be warned that some users are reporting the game's uninstall feature can delete other content in the same folder it's in. For safety's sake, just be sure to install Deltarune in its own, separate location.
Once you start playing Deltarune, you'll quickly find that it bears more than a passing resemblance to Undertale. In fact, there are times when it looks like a sequel, prequel, or spin-off to Undertale. The visuals are the same, the writing is very familiar, and the game utilizes mechanics...
