- Juan Sotelo is President of Film Antics, an award-winning production company specializing in film, music videos, VR and corporate media. With over 50 completed projects, Film Antics vision is to be the thought leader in diverse content creation.
Juan graduated from UCLA in 1996 with a BA in Political Science. In addition, Juan participated as an NCAA athlete running on the Track and Field and Cross Country teams for the Bruins. Juan's studies at UCLA also included screenwriting and film.
After graduating from UCLA, Juan worked as an intermediate algebra teacher and high school coach. He also served as a teacher/mentor at the Jose Valdes Math Institute. He then worked as a support representative for Zoho, a startup, that went bankrupt after the dot-com bubble burst in 2001.
Shortly thereafter, Juan worked and jet-setted over eight years for BEA Systems, which was eventually acquired by Oracle ($8.5 billion). There, he served as a sales and operations senior manager for Americas Services, where he helped achieve a 40% year-over-year revenue growth in Latin America and 24% in U.S. year-over-year revenue growth US during his last full year at the company.
After Oracle, Juan started the small consulting services firm JD & Associates, whose largest client was Blue Coat Systems. At this time, Juan also started the award-winning production company Film Antics, where he serves as Managing Partner and President. Juan has written and produced more than 20 films through Film Antics, for which he was nominated for numerous awards, and also earned Best Film ("Stare Straight Crew"), Best Drama ("Last Supper") and Best Comedy ("Stare Straight Crew") honors.
Juan also holds the title of COO at Payscout, a 2014 (#2416) and 2015 (#434) Inc. 5000/500 honoree - as one of the fastest growing private companies in the US. In addition, Payscout was honored as the 2015 #1 fastest growing company in San Fernando valley; and #2 fastest growing company in Los Angeles Metro by the Los Angeles Business journal. Moreover, Payscout was honored as a 2015 business of the year nominee for the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce.
