The Boys spinoff series Gen V was received by the audience with much appreciation. It's been a while since we had any official word of Matt Reeves' plans for his sequel to The Batman, and the lack of updates following the announcement that James Gunn and Peter Safran would be heading up a new Dcu led to speculation that the movie may have been delayed yet again or possibly even shelved altogether.

Gunn has always assured fans that this was not the case, and one of the actors involved with the film has now shared a positive production update.

According to Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), cameras are set to start rolling early next year.

“Well, there is a huge arc which you’ve got – nah, I’m not giving away anything,” Serkis said during an appearance at Ace Superhero Comic Con 2024. "Basically, I know nothing about the movie other than that I’ve just found out that we’re probably likely to be starting filming early next year.

Exclusive: BET+ has set an action thriller movie about a deadly dinner party starring Natasha Marc (Mayor of Kingstown) and Robert Ri’chard (Coach Carter).

RSVP follows Tesha Colman (Marc), an aspiring author who attends what seems to be an elegant dinner party hosted by the enigmatic Maurice Wright (Ri’chard). The evening takes a dark turn when Tesha and the other guests discover Maurice’s vengeful motives. Camerota has wrapped production on her first feature, Dead Guy, a dark comedy shot under an Interim Agreement that will be introduced to buyers at AFM by CAA Media Finance. Among those in the starry cast are two-time Oscar nominee Michael Shannon (The Bikeriders), Golden Globe nominee Eva Longoria (Sylvie’s Love), Judy Greer (White House Plumbers), Luis Guzman (Story Ave), Amaury Nolasco (The Valet), Rory Culkin (Black Mirror), Curtis Armstrong (New Girl), Ashley Reyes (Walker), and Richard Ellis (Walker).

Dead Guy‘s plot is set into motion when an abrasive old man suddenly dies in the apartment of a neighbor. An absurd game of hot potato then begins with the not-so-dearly departed, as neighbors and building workers each pass the body along, in the hopes of not being linked to the old man’s demise.

Marking the launch of Shft, the new production company of Zac Adams, Dead Guy is also produced by Ryan Lewis of Ryan J. Lewis, Esq, as well as Chadd Harbold of Post Film. eOne is prepping an adaptation of Janice Hallett’s The Twyford Code – the first fruits of the studio’s deal with BAFTA-winning writer-director Paul Andrew Williams. The book is written via automatic transcriptions of recordings made by a former prisoner determined to discover what happened to his teacher. eOne will co-produce with former Sky Studios drama boss Cameron Roach’s Rope Ladder Fiction, with Williams directing and eOne handling global rights. “Janice Hallett’s ingenious second novel has rightly gained a fanbase of epic proportions,” said Sharon Hughff, eOne’s Creative Director, Scripted Television, UK. Andres Dominik’s buzzed about Marilyn Monroe picture Blonde will head to France’s Deauville American Film Festival (September 2-11) after its Venice world debut, where lead actress Ana de Armas will be feted with its Hollywood Rising Star Award. Expanding Los Angeles-based distributor Safier Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to the comedic holiday feature “Christmas Vs. the Walters” out of the Cannes Film Market.

The ensemble film is led by Oscar nominee Bruce Dern, “30 Rock” regular and “Oz” actor Dean Winters, “Saw” franchise star Shawnee Smith and Emmy-winning “Schitt’s Creek” star Chris Elliott.

Promised a wide theatrical release on Nov. 5 before heading to paid VOD and digital sell-through, the film is directed by genre helmer Peter D’Amato. He penned the script with Ante Novakovic.

“Christmas Vs. the Walters” sees Smith as the perfectionist expectant mother Diane Walters, who spends each year planning the ideal Christmas holiday. Stone Canyon Entertainment has announced the start of production on “Who Are the Marcuses,” a feature documentary about a mysterious couple who donated half a billion dollars to Israel, the largest single gift in the history of the state.

Matthew Mishory is directing, with Stone Canyon’s Bradford Schlei and Alvaro Fernandez producing, and executive producers Marc Bennett and Rhino Films’ Stephen Nemeth. Filming is set to begin in Israel and in Austin, Texas in the first quarter of the year for a 2022 release. The film pieces together the lives of Holocaust refugees Lottie and Howard Marcus (pictured), who lived in a modest San Diego apartment and bequeathed half a billion dollars to Ben-Gurion University of the Negev to study water management.
