The Penguin comes to an end on HBO and Max on Sunday, Nov. 10. After watching one of the best gangster/mob stories we've seen in a long time, we know fans are going to be looking for something else to watch!
We've already watched The Batman, the film that inspired The Penguin, quite a few times. And, we also have a long time to wait until The Batman Part 2 hits theaters in 2026. Luckily, there are more than enough good crime shows for The Penguin fans to watch until The Batman Part 2.
And, we're also hearing some promising news about The Penguin season 2. We don't know for sure if the series is coming back for season 2, but there's some hope, according to a report from The Direct.
While we wait to find out the fate of The Penguin, let's get the list of crime shows to watch started with the best TV show of all time,...

From Children of the Living Dead to Zombi 2, the infamous copyright blunder that immediately placed Night of the Living Dead in the public domain means that unauthorized sequels to George A. Romero’s classic are a dime a dozen. However, despite these flicks usually being dismissed as cash-grabs attempting to ride the coattails of a better filmmaker, the fact is that every modern zombie movie is an inherent follow-up to the 1968 original in one way or another– the homemade sequels are simply more honest about it.
This is exactly why I was so interested in checking out Tubi’s low-budget love-letter to Romero, Festival of the Living Dead, as the film’s trailer revealed that the story wouldn’t be wasting time on re-introducing familiar zombie tropes and instead assumes that everyone (including the main characters) are aware of the events that went down on that fateful night back in ‘68. Plus,...

Festival of the Living Dead is not only the latest Tubi Original, it’s the latest film from Jen and Sylvia Soska. That’s a bit of a come down for the sisters, who, after Dead Hooker in a Trunk and American Mary, were loudly proclaimed to be the future of horror. Dave Parker, who was in the same position some years back, recently used a Tubi Original, You Shouldn’t Have Let Me In to prove he can still make an entertaining film. Can the Soska Sisters do the same?
Ash and Iris are looking to do something to celebrate Ash’s birthday. Her boyfriend Kevin and some friends stop by with a birthday present, tickets to the titular Festival of the Living Dead.

George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead is in the public domain, so a lot of people have made their own sequels and remakes to the film over the decades, put out their own releases of it, colorized it, animated it, etc. It’s a property that has never been dormant… but these days it seems like its undead ghouls are livelier than ever. The George A. Romero Foundation and the Cinedigm-backed Bloody Disgusting are making a podcast sequel called The Dead. Nikyatu Jusu is directing a film sequel that will be released by MGM. Directors Jen & Sylvia Soska (Rabid, American Mary) bring you back into the universe of George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead with Tubi Original Festival of the Living Dead, and Bloody Disgusting has been exclusively provided with the official trailer today.
Festival of the Living Dead will bite into Tubi on April 5. The new zombie film is set decades after Night of the Living Dead, centered on the grandchildren of that film’s main character.
The Soska Sisters tweet, “The film is a sequel to Romero’s masterpiece original Night of the Living Dead – the story follows Ben’s grandchildren 55 years after the incident.”
Ben was of course played by late actor Duane Jones in Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, who bravely battled the shambling undead before being killed by the film’s human villains.

Fresh off her directorial debut on Netflix’s upcoming mixed martial arts drama, Bruised, Halle Berry is ready for her next bout. The Oscar-winning actress also stars in the film, but she is not undefeated in her onscreen record, and she wants a rematch. Berry wishes she could not only remake Catwoman, but reimagine it in a subversive turnaround. Catwoman would come out on top.
“I would love to direct Catwoman,” Berry told Jake Hamilton on Jake’s Takes. “If I can get a hold of that now, knowing what I know, having had this experience and reimagine that world the way I reimagined this story. Bruised was written for a white, Irish Catholic like 25-year-old girl, and I got to reimagine it. I wish I could go back and reimagine Catwoman and redo that, have a redo on that.”

When fans think of Catwoman in live-action, they’ll instantly picture Michelle Pfeiffer’s legendary performance in Batman Returns, which remains the definitive big screen interpretation of the character. Since then, we’ve seen multiple new versions of the comic book favorite, ranging from passable to positively awful, but three decades later, nobody’s even come close to matching Pfeiffer’s Selina Kyle.
On the small screen, Camren Bicondova was a regular throughout all five seasons of Gotham and grew into the role with each passing year, while it would be difficult to imagine anyone doing a worse job than Halle Berry in the disastrous 2004 Catwoman, which bombed at the box office and was torn apart by critics, with the movie being so terrible that it set the idea of female-driven comic book blockbusters back by over a decade.

As one of the most iconic characters in comic book history, Catwoman has found herself adapted for live-action on numerous occasions. From Julie Newmar in Adam West’s cult classic TV show to Zoe Kravitz’s turn in The Batman, Michelle Pfeiffer’s legendary performance in Batman Returns to Anne Hathaway’s more muted approach in The Dark Knight Rises, and Camren Bicondova’s youthful Selina Kyle in Gotham, each actress has managed to put their own stamp on the feline anti-heroine.
However, no matter how many people play the role from now until the end of time, something would have to go spectacularly wrong for the end result to be worse than what Halle Berry brought to the table as Patience Phillips in 2004’s Catwoman, which is without a doubt one of the worst comic book movies ever made.

The Batman movie has found its Catwoman in Big Little Lies star Zoe Kravitz.
Zoe Kravitz is no stranger to a franchise—she's appeared in series like Divergent, Fantastic Beasts, and X-Men, to name a few—but her next project may represent her most central role in a big-budget film. According to Deadline, Kravitz has been cast as Selina Kyle in the upcoming The Batman film, starring Robert Pattinson in the eponymous role.
In addition to Pattinson, Kravitz joins Jeffrey Wright, who has been cast as Commissioner Gordon, and Jonah Hill, who is in talks to play the film's villain. The movie is being directed by Matt Reeves (War For the Planet of the Apes), and is currently slated for a June 25, 2021 release date.

When Gotham screened its pilot episode at conventions, I watched with fascination, because it showed such promise as a moody, atmospheric take on the pervasive corruption that created the antibody of The Batman. Sure, it wasn’t entirely based on eighty years of canon, but nothing could do that, so I was prepared.
I stopped watching with regularity halfway through the second season because it stopped being what was promised and became something else entirely. It was a ham-fisted, over-the-top camp take on a modern-day comic, more beholden to the ABC Batman series than the comics.
With each successive season, the twists came faster, the characters stopped making sense, and internal logic was found only in the dictionary. This was a manic Gotham City, where the line between good and evil, moral and corrupt, quality and crap was blurred with every scene.

Even though much of the talk following Gotham‘s series finale has had to do with the emergence of Batman and the costume he wore – and rightfully so – another hot topic has been discussed at length on social media. And in case you were unable to figure it out, we’re referring to the recasting of Selina Kyle.
If you’d been following the prequel series, then you’re aware of how Camren Bicondova had been playing the would-be Catwoman since the very beginning. But when it came time for the finale, some viewers were somewhat put off to find that Lili Simmons had taken her place for the flash forward.
Knowing about this situation, The Hollywood Reporter asked executive producer and showrunner John Stephens exactly what was up, and here’s how he responded:

I don’t know about you, but I’m somewhat displeased at how Selina Kyle was handled in Gotham‘s series finale. As a whole, I thought the episode was satisfying, but seeing the gal fated to be Catwoman pilfering jewels in a costume lacking cat ears was downright disappointing – and especially when you consider how the series had leaped forward by ten years. Hey, if they can show us Batman, then why not Catwoman? Or even say her name? I really don’t get all the ridiculous red tape involved.
Still, Selina heavily factoring into the finale got TV Line thinking about how there’s room to fill in that ten-year gap, specifically by letting us know how the feline fatale occupied her time. While chatting with executive producer and showrunner John Stephens, the outlet asked him if it were possible for a spinoff starring Lili Simmons (the actress...

After five seasons, The Dark Knight finally rose on “Gotham,” but only for a second.
The hour-long series finale of Fox’s Batman prequel finally delivered on the moment the whole series was building toward, with a close-up of Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) standing on a Gotham rooftop fully in his Batsuit.
“We always felt in the beginning of Season 1 that the last shot would be a close-up of Batman,” executive producer John Stephens told TheWrap, though he added that, initially, the 10-year flash-forward would be relegated to the back part of the episode. “We wanted to motivate his arrival. We wanted to make sure the audience understood why Batman had to come to Gotham at this moment in time. And it didn’t feel like we could tell that within five minutes.”

Some of Batman’s most legendary villains look a bit more comics appropriate in the latest trailer for the series finale of Fox’s “Gotham.”
The three-minute long video shows off an older Catwoman, Penguin and The Riddler looking as if they were pulled right off the comic book pages, Commissioner Gordon’s trademark mustache, and of course, a few more shots of The Batman.

Three days ahead of Gotham‘s series finale (Thursday, 8/7c), Fox is giving us an extended look at the big farewell — including the new actress assuming the role of Selina Kyle. Following the show’s 10-year time jump, Banshee alumna Lili Simmons will appear in the finale as a grown-up version of Selina, just in time to welcome Batman (still played by David Mazouz) to Gotham City.
Camren Bicondova, who has played the iconic character since Gotham premiered in 2014, broke the recasting news on social media this past weekend via a heartfelt note to her fans: “I wanted to give...

One episode of Gotham remains.
As such, fans are wondering how the Batman prequel will conclude its five-season run.
Camren Bicondova, who plays Selina Kyle on the series took to social media over the weekend to drop a bombshell on fans:
She will not appear on Gotham Season 5 Episode 12 aka the series finale.
That means Gotham Season 5 Episode 11 marked Bicondova's final installment as Selina. While the actress is not appearing, the character will still be featured.
Lili Simmons has been tapped to appear as Selina. The reason for this is that there is a ten-year time-jump between the penultimate episode and the series finale.

Now that Disney owns Fox, I just realized that DC’s Gotham is officially part of the Disney family in a way, so that’s interesting. Anyway, the end of Gotham is near. The final episode is set to air this week and we have a trailer to share with you for it!
The new trailer features a lot of exciting new footage, but the coolest part for me was finally seeing Batman introduce himself to Jim Gordon, telling him in a raspy deep Batman voice, “I am not your enemy.”
The season finale is set 10 years in the future and as a result there was one big casting change. Selina Kyle a.k.a. Catwoman actress, Camren Bicondova, stepped down from the role. This was a decision that she made because she felt it was the right move for the characters evolution. She posted a lengthy explanation of her decision on Twitter.

“Gotham” star Camren Bicondova announced on Twitter Friday that her time as Catwoman has come to an end, as she will not appear in next week’s series finale.
“It’s important to me that I’m the one to tell you this because it was a choice that I made, through a lot of thoughts, prayer, and time
“I wanted to give Selina Kyle as much respect as possible. Some will say that giving her respect would include seeing the character through to the end of the show, which I understand,” Bicondova wrote.
“But I firmly believe that part of leaving a legacy and being part of a legacy means knowing when to pass the torch to someone else. I was blessed to be the vessel for Selina Kyle for her formative teen years, and it only felt right to give someone else the torch for her adult self.

Camren Bicondova, who has played Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, on Fox’s Gotham for the past five years, said a new actress will assume the character for the last episode of the series, which airs April 25.
Bicondova said in a tweet that the decision was hers, as she detailed the reasons in a lengthy post. The upcoming episode features a ten-year time skip. Bicondova apparently didn’t feel right about playing an older version of the cat burglar, so ceded the role to Lili Simmons, who has appeared in Westworld and The Purge.
The American crime drama was developed by Bruno Heller and premiered on Sept. 22, 2014. The series creators originally intended to focus on Jim Gordon’s early days with the Gotham Pd, but then introduced Bruce Wayne (aka Batman) and reviewed the origin stories of several Batman villains, including the Penguin, Riddler, Mr. Freeze and Catwoman.
Bicondova’s post:

Batman is finally beginning in the first look at the last-ever episode of Fox’s “Gotham.”
Yes, in the newly released trailer for the Batman-prequel series’ finale, we finally see glimpses of the Dark Knight in all his shadowy glory. However, the majority of the preview is devoted to showing what Gotham looks like a decade after Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) decides to leave — and then return. And let’s just say, as much as you wanted to see Batman appear, you might want to see “Gotham’s” final incarnations of all the DC Comics superhero’s most infamous villains even more.

As a prequel series, there’s always been an unavoidable finish line waiting for Gotham. The Fox series ends when Batman begins.
That finish line is looming and the end is near for the series, which is set in Bruce Wayne’s hometown in the years and months leading up to his first masked-man adventures as Batman. After five seasons, Gotham will conclude with a two-part series finale that airs April 18 and April 25. The series will also hit the magic number with its 100th episode with that final broadcast. The poster released today (found below) by Fox makes it clear that the final episodes will deliver what fans have long-waited for — an appearance by a certain caped crusader.

On the one hand, we have every right to be excited about Gotham‘s series finale. After all, there’s no better way to cap off a five-year run than spending most of the concluding episode ten years into the future so that we can see what became of our favorite villains – and see the Batman that this iteration of Bruce Wayne grew into.
But on the other, the costuming could wind up leaving a bad taste in the mouths of viewers. Though I can somewhat appreciate what they’ve done with the Joker by showing what it’d look like if a guy fell into a vat of acid, the Dark Knight’s getup looks like a Diy cosplay. Of course, final judgment should be reserved because the highly criticized Bane is poised to deliver a fine performance in next Thursday’s episode.

A just-released trailer for next Thursday’s episode of the Fox series Gotham shows the return of Jeremiah Valeska (guest star Cameron Monaghan), the malevolent grinning madman who seems locked in a dance of death with the entire city — but especially with the orphan son of Thomas and Martha Wayne.
Valeska’s character is one of the more intriguing elements of Gotham which is in its fifth and final season. The show’s creative team was reluctant early on to include the Joker in their prequel saga about Bruce Wayne’s life leading up to his adoption of the masked alias of Batman. Gordon races to uncover the criminal element threatening to end talks of Gotham’s reunification with the mainland. A very-much-alive Jeremiah (guest star Cameron Monaghan) returns and organizes a twisted recreation of the murder of Bruce’s parents, with the help of Jervis Tetch aka Mad Hatter (guest star Benedict Samuel) in the all-new “Ace Chemicals” episode of Gotham airing Thursday, Feb. 21 (8:00-9:00 Pm Et/Pt) on Fox.

Panels included a valedictory look at “Gotham” before its final season, an omnibus presentation of several of the network’s dramas at once, a look at breakout hit “The Masked Singer” and a table read of the new Emily Spivey-created animated series “Bless the Harts.”
This is the second broadcast-network panel in two days to feature the debut of a network head whose job has been impacted by the Disney/Fox merger; following new ABC chief Karey Burke yesterday, Charlie Collier, late of AMC, took the stage. Here’s what Variety learned from him and from his shows’ panels.
