Michelle Osis is a Toronto-based composer for film, TV and advertising.
She completed her Graduate Certificate in Screen Music at the Australian Film Television Radio School in 2011 and The Australian Institute of Music for a degree in Composition and Music Production. She is also a pianist with over 25 years experience in classical piano.
She emigrated from Sydney, Australia where she worked as a freelance Screen Composer for music and VFX post-production companies, including music houses Songzu, Smith & Western, Engine, Nylon Studios and Sandcastle Studios. Osis has written music on many international commercials for Optus, Fox Sports, McDonalds, Virgin Mobile, Mitsubishi, Air Canada, Bell, Nissan, Ford, McCains, PC Financial, Best Buy, Cheerios, Dodge, Toyota, BPAY, and many more.. and she also composed the music for the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 Opener.
She has composed music on a number of short films in Australia and Canada including award-winning films A Little Bit Behind (Paul Slater, director) screened at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival; Bamboozled (Matt Hardie, director) screened at Tropfest Australia in December 2013; and Let It Rain (Matt Hardie, director) screened at Tropfest Australia in February 2013.
She previously worked at Eggplant Collective in Toronto Canada as one of the in-house composers for advertising and is now working as a freelance Screen Composer. Michelle was also selected as one of the 2014 Slaight Music Residents at Norman Jewison's Canadian Film Centre, headed by Oscar-winning composer Mychael Danna and has recently participated in the 2016 NYU/ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop.
