Official Synopsis Based on the Geoff Johns/Gary Frank 2008 release "Superman: Brainiac," Superman: Unbound finds the Man of Steel aptly handling day-to-day crime while helping acclimate Supergirl to Earth’s customs and managing Lois Lane’s expectations for their relationship. Personal issues take a back seat when the horrific force responsible for the destruction of Krypton – Brainiac – begins his descent upon Earth. Brainiac has crossed the universe, collecting cities from interesting planets – including Supergirl’s home city of Kandor – and now the all-knowing, ever-improving android has his sights fixed on Metropolis. Superman must summon all of his physical and intellectual resources to protect his city, the love of his life and his newly-arrived cousin.

Haven’t gotten enough of the big blue boy scout in animated form yet? Good, cause here’s a new clip from his latest direct-to-dvd original animated adventure, “Superman: Unbound”, along with two interview clips, one featuring “White Collar” star Matt Bomer (as the voice of Superman) and the other with “Castle’s” Stana Katic, voicing the rather odd looking Lois Lane (is it me or does Lois have purple eyes in this movie?). Apparently it’s really tough being the Man of Steel. It’s a good thing he can deflect bullets and fly. That should come in handy when he wants to chill out after a good argument with the missus. Based on the Geoff Johns/Gary Frank 2008 release “Superman: Brainiac,” Superman: Unbound finds the Man of Steel aptly handling day-to-day crime while helping acclimate Supergirl to Earth’s customs and managing Lois Lane’s expectations for their relationship.

"...'Unbound' might be the most violent and bloodiest Dcau Superman film to date. Braniac and his robotic cronies are merciless in their attack on aliens and humans alike and the animation makes no great effort to hide fatalities." Superman: Unbound is the 16th DC Animated Universe (Dcau) from Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment. Based on the 2008 story-arc, Superman: Braniac from Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, the adaptation is not a panel for panel recreation of that story. Instead, the film picks and chooses which elements of the five-issue story to embrace and leaves the rest on the cutting room floor. This is something Supervising Producer James Tucker said would occur during his tenure atop the animation branch of WB. Of course, longtime Dcau fans will know that aside from The Dark Knight Returns, no other Dcau film was a panel for panel adaptation but what...

Here's a new film clip and a few new photos from DC Entertainment's latest animated comic book adventure Superman: Unbound. The clip takes place very early on in the movie, and it features Molly Quinn (Castle) as Supergirl saving Lois Lane (Stana Katic) from a group that has kidnapped her. I'm not sure how well this movie is going to received by fans. I liked aspects of it but didn't like others. All-in-all I thought it was entertaining, but I'll never watch it again.
The movie is partially based on the Geoff Johns and Gary Frank's 2008 Action Comics storyline "Brainiac." Also starring is the film is Matt Bomer (White Collar) as the voice of Clark Kent/Superman, and John Noble (Fringe) as Brainiac.

Warner Home Video has released the first film clip from DC Entertainment's new animated movie Superman: Unbound. It features Superman's first encounter with Brainiac, "a destructive force who has been devastating planets across the galaxy -- with Earth next in his sights."
I watched the movie up at WonderCon a few weeks ago, and it was actually quite entertaining. The story and script were solid, but the animation was really weak this time around.

What better place for a TV series like Smallville to continue past its actual run than the pages of comic books. The concept worked for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, so why wouldn't it work for a super hero who started out there in the first place? Things can be done in the pages of comics you could never pull off onscreen without going over budget. The medium opens up a whole new level of story possibilities and can go on way past the actors have outgrown their parts. Smallville Season Eleven Volume One: Guardian is a near-perfect example of the points I made above.Smallville Season Eleven Volume One: Guardian picks up six months after the Man of Steel's battle with Apokolips. Clark Kent is coming to grips with his public persona as Superman while trying to have a private life with Lois Lane. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor...

With the upcoming release of the DC animated feature "Superman: Unbound," there is renewed interest in one of Superman's most enduring foes, the alien menace known as Brainiac.
This week in Hollywood Justice, we're going to take a look back at Brainiac's history, and find out why his super-intellect makes him such a deadly threat to the Man of Steel.
Brainiac made his first appearance back in 1958's "Action Comics" #242. An alien who had come to Earth in order to steal its greatest cities, Brainiac employed an "ultra-force barrier" as part of his personal arsenal, making him invulnerable even to the might of Superman, and leaving Earth's greatest defender helpless to stop the theft of its cities, which were shrunk and placed into bottles as though they were nothing more than model sets.
Although Superman finally hit upon the solution of hiding in Metropolis and being brought aboard Brainiac's ship alongside it,...

DC Entertainment announced that Smallville: Season 11 will be part of its comics line-up in 2012.
From the mind of series writer Bryan Q. Miller, Season 11 will launch as a digital first title starting on April 13, with new chapters posting weekly followed by its physical counterpart hitting shelves monthly from May 16.

Good news, "Smallville" fans! While the show is done for good (and we couldn't have asked for a better series finale last May) Bryan Q. Miller, a writer and story editor from the TV series, is picking up where the show left off.
Miller and DC Comics have announced a "Smallville Season 11" comic book series, which will be published digitally beginning April 13, 2012, with a new issue every week. The series will also be available in print beginning May 16.
We'll revisit all our favorite characters six months after we last saw them -- not only Clark Kent, but Lois Lane, Oliver Queen, Chloe Sullivan-Queen, General Lane, and yes, Mr. Lex Luthor. In addition to Miller, the team behind the stories includes print cover artist Gary Frank, digital cover artist Cat Staggs (see above for her first one!) with interiors by Pere Perez.
