Hollywood Week — or “Hell Week,” according to that little devil Ryan Seacrest — continued on Monday’s American Idol, which ended with one contestant threatening (nay, promising!) to pee on the floor. And after sitting through this episode, I could relate.
These poor children were put through the wringer, forced to sing and dance and smile on mere minutes of sleep. They were treated like… like… well, like children in Hollywood, to be honest.
But unlike the episode, which forced the contestants to wait until the last possible moment to learn their fates, we’re going straight to the results:

The second and final episode of “American Idol” showcasing Hollywood Week airs on March 25. On Sunday we saw the three judges — country superstar Luke Bryan, pop princess Katy Perry, and Oscar-winning singer/songwriter Lionel Richie — pass judgement on half of the contestants who had made it this far in the competition. On Monday, we’ll see them make their decisions on the other half of those hoping to win season 17 of “American Idol.”
At this stage, all of the contestants take part in three sing-offs: lines of 10, groups, and solos. The judges have to decide which 40 to take through to the next round. Those lucky few were flown to Hawaii and got to sing in a showcase that is set to air on Sunday, March 31. (Spoilers: The men and women who made the Top 40.)

A hectic Hollywood Week continued Monday night on ABC's American Idol, starting with a continuation of the group round. Then, contestants gave solo performances, which judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie used to select the top 40.
Sunday night’s episode ended on a cliffhanger as the group Ain’t Going Home awaited the fate of one of their members Nate Walker, who was sent to the hospital. He ended up only spending a couple of hours there before returning to sing with the group. They sang “The Longest Time” by Billy Joel, and there were a ...

The fact that Sunday’s American Idol ended with a contestant being rushed to the hospital feels on par with the vibe of Hollywood Week thus far. As we saw tonight, not even our favorites are immune to the occasional misstep — and the pressure is on.
Read on for a breakdown of how 38 memorable contestants fared in the first night of Hollywood Week:
Still In The Competition:
* Laci Kaye Booth (Katy’s little “diamond in the rough”) breezed through to the Group Rounds with a stunning solo performance of Aretha Franklin’s “Natural Woman,” putting her own country twist on the classic song.

After endearing himself to the judges last season, a fan-favorite contestant is heading back to Hollywood for another shot at stardom — and that was just one of several surprises from Sunday’s American Idol.
The third night of auditions this season also included what Lionel Richie called “the attack of the 15- and 16-year-olds,” an onslaught of insanely talented teens: There was Austin Michael Robinson, 15, dubbed the “country Justin Bieber” by Katy Perry; Riley Thompson, 16, dubbed the “country Lana Del Ray” by that same judge; Mica Giaconi, 16, who did Bob Marley proud with a cool cover of “Is This Love”; and Darian Baena,...
