Nikki Shiels is a multi-award winning Australian actress whose career spans screen and stage including leading roles with all of Australia's major theatre companies.
In television, Nikki most recently appeared in the BBC One/Stan Original series TEN POUND POMS S1 and THE NEWSREADER S2 for the ABC and the original drama series PROSPER for Lionsgate & Stan. Nikki's next screen project to be released is the upcoming series THE LAST ANNIVERSARY directed by John Polson. Based on the novel by Liane Moriarty Nikki plays the role of "Deborrah "opposite Teresa Palmer. Nikki also played the role of "Janie" alongside Charlotte Rampling and Judy Davis in the feature film THE EYE OF THE STORM directed by Fred Schepisi.
Nikki is currently performing the role of "Blanche DuBois" in the Tennessee Williams classic A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE for Melbourne Theatre Company. The production has received rave reviews. Prior to this Nikki starred as "Sunday Reed" in Melbourne Theatre Company's highly-acclaimed production of SUNDAY which will enjoy a return season at Sydney Theatre Company in 2024. A selection of other recent theatre credits include: GIRLS AND BOYS (MTC), THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY (STC), MY BRILLIANT CAREER (Belvoir), HOME, I'M DARLING (MTC), and CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF (STC).
Nikki won the 2020 Green Room Award for her performance as Judy Martin in HOME, I'M DARLING and the 2023 Gloria Payten and Gloria Dawn Fellowship for her contribution to the Australian Acting Industry, intended for outstanding mid-career artists to engage in artistic collaboration and further training abroad.
