The Australian Centre for Indian Cinema is set to launch the National Indian Film Festival of Australia (Niffa) across seven cities from Feb. 13-16, 2025, marking the country’s first nationwide celebration of Indian cinema.

The festival has secured partnerships with exhibitor Dendy Cinemas, Indian media giant Ndtv, and cinema advertising firm Val Morgan. Filmmaker Anupam Sharma will head the initiative, with industry veteran Peter Castaldi serving as festival director.

Niffa will host screenings in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Darwin, and Hobart. One city will be selected to host the opening night festivities, workshops, and panels focusing on investment opportunities and co-production development. The trailer of the new season of ‘Four More Shots Please!’ shares a riveting glimpse into the life of four friends – Anjana Menon, Damini Roy, Siddhi Patel and Umang Singh who strive to navigate through the challenges of life, love and their own flaws.

Talking about the show, Sayani shared, “The third season will see the girls having more fun, their camaraderie deepening, their fierceness expanding, but also their acceptance of their frailties.

Prime Video today announced that the third season of the Emmy-nominated series – Four More Shots Please! will premiere on October 21. Produced by Pritish Nandy Communications, directed by Joyeeta Patpatia and written by Devika Bhagat, with dialogues by Ishita Moitra, the much-awaited Amazon Original will pick up from the dramatic note on which the second season ended, bringing back to screens the lives of four unapologetically flawed women who live, love, blunder, and discover what continues to make them tick through their forever friendship in the city of Mumbai.

Featuring Kirti Kulhari, Sayani Gupta, Maanvi Gagroo, and Bani J in lead roles, Season 3 will see Prateik Babbar, Lisa Ray, Neil Bhooplam, Rajeev Siddharth, Amrita Puri, Simone Singh and Samir Kochhar reprising their respective roles, whereas Jim Sarbh, Rohan Mehra, Shilpa Shukla and Sushant Singh will be joining the well-acclaimed Amazon Original this new season.

A galaxy full of Bollywood stars such as Hrithik Roshan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Kabir Khan and Nikhil Advani among many others were in attendance to add an extra oomph to the Asia Pacific premiere in Mumbai of ‘The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power’.

The premiere was attended by the series’ cast Rob Aramayo, Maxim Baldry, Markella Kavenagh, Charles Edwards, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Nazanin Boniadi, Ema Horvath, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sara Zwangobaniand and showrunner J.D. Payne.

The premiere reflected the rich, cinematic world of the series, with the cast and crew making a grand entrance on the carpet in true Mumbai-style in a set of vibrant and colourful auto rickshaws.

Others from the Hindi film industry who attended the star-studded event included Bani J, Rasika Duggal, Sayani Gupta, Maanvi Gagroo and Jim Sarbh. The premiere kicked off with an address from showrunner J.D. Payne, with thunderous applause from audiences in the packed auditorium.

India’s T-Series, Reliance Entertainment and Match Cut Productions have teamed on Srijit Mukherji’s Hindi-language satire “Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga.”

Inspired by true events, the film is about the adverse effects of urbanization, human-animal conflict and poverty, leading to a bizarre practice in a village located on the edge of a forest.

It stars Pankaj Tripathi (“Sacred Games”), Neeraj Kabi (“Paatal Lok”) and Sayani Gupta “(Four More Shots Please”).

Mukherji’s credits include Bengali-language films “Autograph” (2010), which was a Glasgow International Film Festival and Abu Dhabi International Film Festival selection, “Jaatishwar” (2014), “Chotushkone” (2015), “Rajkahini (2015) and “Ek Je Chilo Raja” (2019), which played at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. “Sherdil” will be his second Hindi film after the 2017’s “Begum Jaan,” the remake of “Rajkahini.”

Mukherji said: “I got inspired by the real incident of tragic practises in villages bordering the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve and I knew I had to capture it in my next.

New Delhi, March 27 (Ians) Actress Sanya Malhotra has decoded the title of her new film "Pagglait". She says for her a person who listens to their heart and does not seek external validation is a Pagglait.

"Pagglait is a person who listens to the heart and does what the heart says. Someone who does not seek external validation. That person (for me) is a Pagglait. The person who listens to themselves and not the outside world is a pagglait," Sanya told Ians.

In the film, Sanya is Sandhya, a young woman who becomes a widow within a few months of marriage. While the family grieves, Sandhya is unable to bring herself to mourn the death of her husband.

The dramedy, directed by Umesh Bist, also features Sayani Gupta, Shrutii Sharma, Ashutosh Rana, Raghubir Yadav, Sheeba Chaddha, Meghna Malik and Rajesh Tailang, and dropped on Netflix on March 26.

Pagglait the film is just like its protagonist Sandhya. It doesn't behave the way it is expected to.

You would think the story of a just-married young woman who is widowed right at the onset would be sombre, all the more because the societal subjugation she tackles is focus of the plot. The film however refuses to mourn, just like Sandhya. With a quirky spin, writer-director Umesh Bist chooses to unfold his story as a comic drama. Like its heroine, the film's mood stays irreverent, unaffected by the grim reality that backdrops the narrative.

Sanya Malhotra plays the smalltown widow Sandhya with incredible authenticity. She is alone in her room, amidst a house full of grieving relatives,...
