I’ll be the first to admit that until getting swept up in the world of 9-1-1, it had been years since I’d properly seen the inside of a TV show fandom.
As a result, there was a lot I’d missed about how it looks when fans are as deeply committed to a series as the people who love this “silly firefighter show,” as it’s affectionately called.
From ‘ships to social media wars, fanfictions to fanart, and everything in between, 9-1-1 is treated almost like a religion to loyal fans, and they’ve managed to turn the show into something entirely their own.
(Disney/Mike Taing)
The elephant in the proverbial room is, of course, Buddie — the ship name for Buck and Eddie.

Note: The following story contains spoilers from “9-1-1” Season 8, Episode 8.
“9-1-1” might be saying goodbye to Eddie Diaz in the near future, with series co-creator Tim Minear saying that the firefighter is “serious as a heart attack” about leaving L.A. after Thursday’s fall finale.
Episode 8, titled “Wannabes,” followed as Eddie (Ryan Guzman) continued to struggle with being separated from his son Christopher (Gavin McHugh), who left Los Angeles at the end of Season 7 to live with his grandparents in El Paso. After a begrudgingly quick FaceTime call made him realize his son is drifting further away from him, Eddie started to reevaluate his priorities — and near the end of the episode, he told Buck (Oliver Stark) he was looking at houses to buy there and potentially leave the 118.
But should fans really be worried about Eddie’s future on the show?

9-1-1 fans are convinced that Eddie and Buck are the “endgame.” They’re waiting for the day when they fall in love. However, considering what Eddie said on Thursday’s episode, that might not happen. At least, not anytime soon.
Confirming His Sexuality
On the Thursday, November 7th episode of 9-1-1, Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman) goes to confession. It’s been 23 years since his previous visit. The priest asked him to just give him “the highlights.” Eddie confessed about his relationship with his son Christopher and how he’s failed to protect him.
The priest accepted his confession and told him to pray five “Our Fathers” and a decade of the Rosary. Eddie was shocked by his penance. Then, he said that he didn’t deserve forgiveness before rushing out of the confessional.
Later in the episode, Eddie goes to a juice bar. He runs into the priest, who recognizes his voice.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 6 “Confessions.”] Tommy may be a common name, but it’s not that common in the world of 9-1-1. We knew that Abby (Connie Britton‘s Season 1 dispatcher) had an ex with that name, but as Buck (Oliver Stark) learns in the latest episode, her Tommy and his (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) are the same person. It’s shocking, but, after a great talk with Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Josh (Bryan Safi), he’s ready to move past it. Tommy, however, responds to his suggestion they move in together by breaking up with him. Elsewhere in the episode, Eddie (Ryan Guzman) is doing much better after a conversation with a priest about not punishing himself. He even finds a bit of joy in an homage to the Risky Business dance! And, after Maddie raises the question of potentially ...

The latest 9-1-1 starts with Eddie in a confessional, but it turns out what he really needs is to talk to the priest (the returning Gavin Stenhouse) outside of the church. It’s after the two cross paths and the priest talks to him about needing to stop punishing himself and finding some joy that Eddie takes those words to heart, shaves off his mustache, and pays homage to Risky Business with a dance around his living room. TV Insider spoke with Guzman about that dance, Eddie moving forward, and much more. Plus, read what showrunner Tim Minear had to say about this episode’s big moments, including Eddie, Buck (Oliver Stark) and Tommy’s (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) breakup, and Maddie (Jennifer Love ...

Perpetually lovelorn — and injury-prone — firefighter Buck (Oliver Stark) got his heart broken again in Thursday night’s episode of “9-1-1,” when his boyfriend of six months Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) suddenly broke up with him.
Buck and Tommy were just celebrating their sixth month anniversary when Buck learned that, before he came out as a gay man, Tommy was engaged to Abby — yes, that Abby (Connie Britton) — for two years. He was upset that Tommy could have stayed in a relationship with his former flame for so long living a lie, until Josh (Bryan Safi) explained how much harder it was to be open about one’s sexuality even just a few years ago.
Buck took that moment of doubt and decided to double down on his relationship with Tommy by asking him to move in. However, Tommy thought “baby bi...

[This story contains spoilers from episode six, season eight of 911.]
Buck (Oliver Stark) is back on the market following Thursday night’s episode of 911.
Early into episode six of season eight, “Confessions,” Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) makes a startling revelation when he casually shares that he used to be engaged to 9-1-1 dispatcher Abby Clark (Connie Britton). At the time, he doesn’t know Abby is also Buck’s ex.
But, surprisingly, it’s not their shared past that is the undoing of their relationship. After notably only having a mini-spiral session about Tommy admitting that he broke Abby’s heart, leading her to date a “himbo” half her age after they called it quits — him being the male Bimbo — Buck asks Tommy to move in with him toward the end of the episode. What should be a happy moment quickly turns sour, however, when Tommy tells Buck he believes he’s his first male relationship after coming into his bisexuality mid-season seven,...

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for Thursday’s “Confessions” episode of ABC’s “9-1-1.”
Following this week’s episode of “9-1-1,” Buck (Oliver Stark) and Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) are no longer sitting in a tree. The hour started with the young couple celebrating their latest monthly anniversary and ended in their breakup, after Buck found out that Tommy was once engaged to his former great love Abby (Connie Britton), who left LA (and “9-1-1”) several years ago.
But it wasn’t Buck’s reaction to that revelation that ended the relationship, as Buck worked through his concerns about Tommy’s previous relationship with a woman and Buck’s first relationship with a man and ultimately asked Tommy to move in. In fact, it was Tommy’s choice to break up with Buck when he decided that, though Buck might think he’s ready for that step, Tommy thinks...

9-1-1 has some of our favorite relationships on TV right now. In fact, three members of the 118 are in long-term, stable, loving marriages that also showcase strong partnerships. The other two firefighters are still figuring things out. That includes Buck (Oliver Stark), who hasn’t had the best of luck with love and is currently dating fellow first responder Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.). When TV Insider caught up with Stark about the most recent episode and got some teases about the obstacles coming Buck and Tommy’s way, we had to wonder: Does Buck want a relationship like the others—Bobby (Peter Krause) and Athena (Angela Bassett), Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi), and Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Karen (Tracie Thoms)—have, with the romance and partnership right now, or is he still figuring that out? “I think everybody wants someone that obviously they have the romance with,...

That’s the sound of the police! No, but really, Ryan Murphy’s first responder drama “9-1-1” is pulling back into Station 118 for Season 8.
The series explores the “high-pressure experiences of first responders — including police officers, firefighters and dispatchers — who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping conditions,” according to ABC’s description of the series.
In the midst of that, “the emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. The show draws from the real lives of first responders who regularly face situations that are often unpredictable, intense and uplifting at the same time.”
This next season, the second to air on ABC after the series was dropped by Fox, will kick off with the team fighting off a dangerous swarm of bees. Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch.

A lot happened in Season 7 of “9-1-1”: Buck (Oliver Stark) got a boyfriend after realizing he was also attracted to men and Chim (Kenneth Choi) and Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) finally got married after the groom went Mia on their wedding day, while other characters faced death, loss and more dramatic life-changing events.

In the first teaser trailer for Season 8 of “9-1-1,” 22 million killer bees descend upon Los Angeles, which will keep the crew of the 118 more than busy. The teaser contains the kind of world-of-nature statistic Buck (Oliver Stark) would love: “The average human cannot survive 500 bee stings.” Eep!
While we don’t have a lot more details about how this ’70s-movie-style disaster will play out, we know these brave firefighters and paramedics are up for it. After all, they’ve already dealt with rampaging alpacas, stalker crows and that one time a guy was attacked by a shark… in the middle of a freeway.

Clearly everyone should have friends like Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Karen (Tracie Thoms)! ABC shared a deleted scene from 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 9 “Ashes, Ashes” in which the couple questions Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) about his intentions towards Buck (Oliver Stark). The episode began with the 118 and Tommy receiving medals for their heroics during the cruise ship disaster that kicked off the season—Bobby (Peter Krause), notably, didn’t think he deserved the recognition and made his feelings known during his speech—and this cut moment comes from the reception after (during which Bobby put in his resignation and Captain Gerrard showed he’s still a horrible person). “Where are you going with this?” Hen asks Tommy in the video, which you can watch in the Instagram post below. And now, with this season featuring Buck exploring his bisexuality—he’s with former 118 member Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.)—the question does have to be asked if the show could go there with him and his best friend. “We just got to the point where Buck is having this own personal growth of himself, so it’s like baby steps towards anything and if anything,” Guzman tells TV Insider. Furthermore, he’s especially enjoying what this arc is “showcasing on national television: a bisexual man coming out to a heterosexual man and having the strength to do such, and then having the heterosexual man giving that man a safe space to be caught in and to be loved and nurtured. There was more than one happy couple celebrating a milestone at the end of the May 2 episode of “9-1-1”: After going missing on his wedding day to Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Chimney (Kenneth Choi) was found alive and he and Maddie’s wedding finally happened in his hospital room, as he recovered from viral encephalitis. But Buck (Oliver Stark) was also beaming as new boyfriend Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) joined the joyful celebration.
The reactions of the characters — who didn’t know Buck was bi, let alone dating a fellow firefighter — ranged from confusion from Buck and Maddie’s parents, to Hen (Aisha Hinds) saying, “It’s about damn time.”
Hewitt told TheWrap that the “Wait, what?” response from Dee Wallace, who plays Buck and Maddie’s mother, was genuine, as she missed the episodes where Buck and Tommy admitted their attraction to each other.

[This story contains spoilers from season seven, episode five of 9-1-1, “You Don’t Know Me.”]
A couple of months ago, 9-1-1 co-creator and showrunner Tim Minear reached out to actor Lou Ferrigno Jr. — who had guest-starred in three flashback episodes of the second season — about reprising his role as firefighter Tommy Kinard in the seventh season of the hit Fox-turned-abc first-responder drama.
Ferrigno Jr., who says he had nothing but fond memories of working with the writer and producer years ago, was instantly intrigued to learn that Minear was in the early stages of writing a multi-episode arc that would allow viewers to check back in with Tommy in the present. That storyline, as it turns out, would involve Evan “Buck” Buckley (Oliver Stark), the ostensibly straight character who would navigate his newfound attraction to Tommy in the landmark 100th episode, which aired last Thursday.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 4 “Buck, Bothered and Bewildered.”] For its 100th episode, 9-1-1, one of the most consistently exciting, heartfelt, and simply entertaining shows on TV, delivers one for the books, setting Buck (Oliver Stark) up for a new romance and to figure out what that means for him. For most of the episode, Buck’s seemingly jealous that Eddie (Ryan Guzman) is leaving him out and has formed a new friendship with Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), the former member of the 118 who flew them in a helicopter to Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby’s (Peter Krause) rescue when their honeymoon turned into a disaster. Eddie and Tommy fly to Vegas to watch a fight? Buck’s bothered. Eddie’s son Christopher (Gavin McHugh) can’t stop talking about Tommy? Buck rants to his sister Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt). Eddie invites Tommy to join a weekly basketball game that Buck always says ...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 4 “Buck, Bothered and Bewildered.”] If you asked us before 9-1-1 Season 7 began if the ABC first responder drama would take the relationship between Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman), which remains strictly platonic, and actually go where some fans have wanted to see it go for some time now, the answer would have seemed simple. But now the question has to be asked. Buck spends the 100th episode “bothered and bewildered,” to borrow its title, upon realizing Eddie’s spending all this free time with Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), the former 118er they just worked with to rescue Bobby (Peter Krause) and Athena (Angela Bassett). He seems hurt when Eddie talks about meeting someone and just clicking. He tries to get Eddie’s attention at work, then drags Chimney (Kenneth Choi) along to a weekly basketball game upon learning his best friend’s going with Tommy. And ...

Eddie (Ryan Guzman) has a new friend in 9-1-1‘s 100th episode, “Buck, Bothered and Bewildered,” and it doesn’t look like Buck’s (Oliver Stark) all that happy about it in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek. The logline teases that Buck becomes envious when Eddie forms a close bond with someone else, and that someone else is Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), the former member of the 118 who helped everyone fly to Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby’s (Peter Krause) rescue during the cruise ship disaster that was their honeymoon. Now, in our clip, Buck’s visiting Tommy to talk to him about his work after the 118. “What got you into flying, aside from the fact that I assume it’s like having a superpower?” he asks. Tommy shares that he was a pilot in the Army. Buck remarks that Eddie was in the Army as well, and Tommy says that he mentioned it.
