- Editor
- Director
Troy Herion is an Emmy-winning and Cinema Eye nominated composer, editor, and producer whose scoring has garnered critical acclaim for films like "306 Hollywood," "The Hottest August," and "Bulletproof." With a unique approach that blends melodic elegance with unconventional orchestration, his music cannot be easily classified into any genre. He believes in the power of "sonic storytelling" where music transcends its conventional role as mere background and becomes a storyteller in its own right.
Recently Herion's music has been prominently featured in the Oscar-nominated "Fire of Love" and the Sundance award-winning "I Didn't See You There." He has also premiered projects at major film festivals such as Sundance, Toronto, Berlin, CPH Docs, SXSW, HotDocs, Tribeca, MoMA, NYFF, and True/False.
Television work includes multiple episodes for the PBS series American Experience and the upcoming cult miniseries "The Fourth Wall" for CNN. Commercial projects include music for American Express, Google, Adobe, Lego, The New York Times, and many more.
As a classically trained multi-instrumentalist who attended Princeton University's PhD program, Herion is a collaborating artist with dance, theater, and opera companies. Compositions have premiered at Carnegie Hall, The Academy of Music, and The Annenberg Center.
Herion's versatility as a composer is showcased in his concert works, which have been performed by prestigious ensembles such as So Percussion, JACK Quartet, and American Composers Orchestra. Commissions include the ballet "Archiva" for The Pennsylvania Ballet and the opera "A Period of Animate Existence" for Pig Iron Theatre Co., written for 100 performers including a sentient halal cart and the Grammy-winning Crossing Choir.
