Tom Michaels was born Tomasz Baginski in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Lubuskie, Poland, the son of Wladyslaw Baginski, a supervisor for Linden Mold & Tool Corporation, and Grazyna Baginski, a housewife turned factory worker. His father and mother are of Polish descent. Due to the political and economical instability of his country Poland at the time, Tom and his family moved to America in the 1980's. They moved around from Lyndhurst, Long Island to Chelsea, NYC before permanently settling down in Linden, New Jersey.
He had a middle class upbringing in Linden, New Jersey. At a very early age the young Michaels took a very keen interest in movies and vowed to become an actor one day. In High School, he took an interest in sports like basketball, football and cross country. After graduating high school, Michaels attended Union County College in Cranford, New Jersey where he majored in Business Management. Not satisfied with where his life was heading, he made the bold decision to pursue acting. Michaels quickly found a repertory theatre in Elizabeth, New Jersey and started doing plays. After the theatre was shut down he attended and took some classes at HB Studios in NYC.
Eventually Tom Michaels made the bold decision to move to Los Angeles California. He auditioned and was accepted into Antaeus Theatre Academy in North Hollywood California. Michaels also auditioned and was accepted into William Alderson Studio where he graduated with a degree in the Meisner Technique. During his studies at the Alderson Studio, he quickly realized that he took a keen interest in wanting to direct and write as well. Michaels decided to apply for USC film School and was accepted to the USC Cinematic Arts program.
Tom Michaels' two films, The Devil's Entrance and Older Self has been generating a lot of buzz within the Independent Film community with it's unique and retro visually intriguing storytelling which hasn't been seen for quite sometime. This has lead to numerous awards and accolades within the award and festival communities.
His latest production titled Come the Nightfall, shot on 16mm film, is currently in post production.
