Juliana Aidén Martinez has indefinitely joined the cast of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, starring alongside Mariska Hargitay’s Olivia Benson, Ice T’s Odafin Tutuola, Peter Scanavino’s Dominick Carisi, Octavio Pisano’s Joe Velasco and Kevin Kane’s Terry Bruno, who has been upped to season regular.

Martinez portrays Kate Silva, a former Brooklyn homicide detective whose father is the deputy police commissioner of the New York Police Department in the fictional world of the veteran Dick Wolf show. She was first introduced in the season 26 premiere and is already making strides within the squad.

Prior to landing the role of Kate, the actress starred alongside Sofía Vergara in Griselda. Her portrayal of the ground-breaking detective who brought down Griselda Blanco (aka the Cocaine Queen of Miami) garnered her an Imagen Award nomination for best supporting actress in a limited series.

“Griselda” star Juliana Aidén Martinez played Miami Detective June Hawkins in the Netflix series, but she joins “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” Thursday night as a very different kind of law enforcement officer — her new character Detective Kate Silva’s father just so happens to be deputy commissioner with the NYPD.

Ahead of the Season 26 premiere on NBC, the actress told TheWrap that she was blown away by the warm welcome she got from “Svu” mainstay Mariska Hargitay, who gave her a “huge bear hug” when they first met, even though Martinez was merely still auditioning for the role at the time.

Martinez also detailed the “indescribable feeling” of filming on the streets of New York as part of such a well-known franchise and how the Miami native considers the city her “second home.”

Ice-t has brushed off recent criticism that Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has become too “woke” in its recent seasons.

The 66-year-old actor, who has played Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola on the NBC crime show since 2000, replied to a fan’s comment on social media platform X. When the fan asked if the show had gone back to “normal” after supposedly becoming “woke,” Ice-t responded honestly, saying he didn’t really understand what “woke” meant and didn’t care much about such criticisms.

Ice-t’s role as Tutuola is the second longest-running character in the show’s history, surpassed only by Mariska Hargitay‘s Olivia Benson. In a January interview, the actor described Svu as a “special” series, noting its unique impact on viewers.

The network has renewed Law & Order for Season 24, while Law & Order: Svu will be back for Season 26.

The future of Law & Order: Organized Crime, which is in its fourth season, is still in discussion at the network. It has been the lowest rated of Dick Wolf’s NBC shows and has had a number of showrunners over its course. Matt Olmstead started out as showrunner, replaced by Ilene Chaiken, who was replaced by Barry O’Brien. Bryan Goluboff was named showrunner for Season 3 but left after three months, replaced by Sean Jablonski, who also left shortly after due to “creative differences” and was replaced by David Graziano. John Shiban is showrunner for Season 4.

When Law & Order: Svu returns for Season 25, it will be without a familiar face.

According to TV Line, Molly Burnett is bowing out as Det. Grace Muncy as a series regular.

Burnett's exit played out during the conclusion of Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3, which served as a crossover with Svu.

Muncy revealed to Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) that Chief Tommy McGrath (Terry Serpico) had rewarded her dedication to the Elias Olsen case by giving her a spot on a DEA task force.

As a result, Burnett is no longer a series regular, but that doesn't mean she won't pop back up down the line.

If the Law & Order universe has taught us anything, former stars are never truly gone and pop back up when there's a story to tell.

Kelli Giddish has officially left “Law & Order: Svu.” During Thursday night’s winter finale, Giddish’s Detective Rollins decided to leave her job with the unit for a teaching gig at Fordham.

The episode kicked off with Rollins marrying Peter Scanavino’s Carisi in a courthouse wedding. After the wedding, Rollins drives to see Det. Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and the pair get drunk in a motel room together. After many glasses of boxed wine, she tells her boss about the job offer.

“You taught me how to be a good detective,” Rollins says. “You taught me how to love myself and how to let people in — the victims and Carisi.”

At first, Benson gets upset and Rollins leaves. They later talk at work and Benson apologizes for reacting so harshly.

Directed by Christian Schultz from a screenplay co-written with Peter Ambrosio, Presence relocates the haunted house setting to a luxury yacht. The extreme isolation of being at sea provides fertile ground to explore what makes a haunting; is it a product of a fractured mind or something supernatural?
